I've seen this one a while ago, and it has progressed nicely. Keep up the great work!

Yes RCK, that's how it's done. I think it could be done using the mods, but how to keep the sync? Hmm... haven't checked the modplug plugin properties, is there any way to control it by Javascript RCK?

Would be a cack handed way of doing it, to have a flash animation load and then a mod played externally.

Good site though, love those Melon Design cracktros still. Little hard to imagine the impact those people made!

no way to control modplug,
the best trick should be to include a mods player into the flash animation.

Are the cracktros completely re-coded using the original graphics, partially re-coded with some animation, or non-dynamic animations?

from the size of the files it looks like huge animations. could always download one and take it apart with a flash decomplier.

The graphics are all original.

I found the Crystal font i made for my workbench the other night, beats Topaz.

Recoding the isn't to much of a problem, they were very basic because they had to be small to fit on the small bits left of discs.

not to sure what you mean by recording or re encoding
but basicly i got all gfx from the acualy intro
which in principle sounds easy but imagine intros like the spinning company logo ,not so easy because whist its spinning and im trying to grab it other things are happinging in the back ground, like text fading in and out ect... so i had to change the code of some intros to make the background and text disapear or change all color values to lets say green ,so everything is still running only thing that isnt green is the spinning logo and this is how i can grab it ,same with the crystal green logo

other intros like the black and white cube intro from melon for crystal was made using flash u notice we have on right side white text black background ,and on left side black text white background ,this is not captured this is done in flash by having 1 white text and 1 black text run at the same time from right to left
and when it reaches the middle i dont need the white text from then onwards so i have to mask it so it only shows black text

nothing in these flash intros are a straight record from an intro if they are then they wouldnt loop like they do
each intro contains about 10 layers
1 layer could be text another layer could be a logo another layer could be scrolling stars ,and so on all compiled with flash

example:
pdx background

then add a layer for the logo

and you will end up with something like this

and then animate some stars ,add a layer for them inbetween background and logo and then balls and circles then add text
and so on hope this answer some Questions

NO, these are not coded, they are simulated.

kheph: if the modplug plugin was flexible enough, controlling it through javascript from within Flash wouldn't be a problem (though it might bring sync problems)

Anyway....

Was just an educated desk!!! Didn't have a clue.

You could recreate the object in Swift 3D and bring it in that way, can do with it what you like then.

The way he has done it is probably the best way, the MP3s don't need to be recorded at 192 or 128 to sound to dissimilar to the original. I have some on my MD player and they are only at 96 (i think) and there ain't much difference in quality.

Now if only you could stream it ....

If you want to be a real flash bastard (no pun intended) then do them in Java or Blitz Basic.
