CD32 not powering up - caps already replaced
Hi folks
I have acquired a CD32 (which was not working on arrival), which I have correctly fully recapped, including the 2 reversed ones being put the correct way round and verified. Upon powering up I get the green power LED coming on, but nothing else happens - the CD drive does not seek, the LED does not change. The screen output on the TV does change slightly from black screen to a lighter grey to indicate that there is something happening. Upon receipt of the CD32 there was some signs of corrosion on the Akiko chip on pins 11 to 15. I cleaned the pins and surrounding area and reflowed the pins with fresh solder with no difference. there does not appear to be any damage around any other area. Could someone advise what could be wrong, and the best way forward to diagnose the problem ? Could the Akiko chip be damaged/faulty ? Thanks Simon Last edited by trolleymaster; 29 May 2018 at 16:31. |
