Questions about Gotek
Hi,
I purchased a Gotek for my otherwise vanilla Amiga 500+. It came with the Cortex firmware. I am a bit confused as to what the best firmware is for this device. In general people seem to prefer HxC over Cortex a lot. But then there is also FlashFloppy. I don't mind paying license fees for a superior firmware. I am sure some people have tried all of them already, so what is your take? Next question. If I were to connect it as an external drive DF1, would I be able to boot from it by holding the both mouse buttons and select DF1 as boot device? Thank you! |

FlashFloppy or HxC are both great and currently locked into a healthy "feature fight", new stuff coming in both of them almost weekly! When one gets a feature the other one usually implements it too. It's great.
Personally I pick FlashFloppy. But HxC is a great choice too. Go with what you think is best. As for booting form it, many games and software have access to floppy hardcoded to use DF0, and what you want to do won't work. System friendly games, might. |
