Ok, I finally completed level 5 - there are 2 lives available (both added to my tips image). The first life (as mentioned before) is in the dead end you get forced down if you don't destroy 13a and 13b, whilst the 2nd life is just infront of a laser (which is destroyed in my tips screenshot) and both laser and extra life reappear each time you die in the laser tunnel (end of lvl 5 boss).

Level 6 (as I'm calling it now - the highscores table shows the level number as a star) appears to be an automatic trip to the upgrade shop, followed by the final boss , which I have failed to defeat despite having over 10 attempts so far. Pics of the 'shop' spaceship and final boss are below, along with my new score.

Just watched the video... grrreat... what I thought was the final boss is actually the penultimate boss
On the plus side, I could score atleast another 200K if I beat them...

Got to level 5 for the first time with about 475k. I took a load of hits early on and lost all my health, not a pixel remained but the ship didn't blow up. I knew I needed one more kill to overtake John so I flew straight up to the nearest enemy and blasted it, killing it just as it's bullet hit me.

Yeah, you are always under attack from something - lasers, homing missiles, falling rocks etc.

What an awesome game I must say, some real challenge in there! Love it!

Today was the first time ever that I have played this game. Z-Out is very hard too and I love it, but this was as good as or even better (because of the hitpoint system) than Z-Out. After 5 hours of learning the levels, tricks and weapon systems (thanks to Bamiga2002, my older brother for pointing out that there is an upgrade shop in the game ._. I played up to level 3 with the basic gun) I managed to play through the game with 2 lives left. What a great experience!

Next up is Dogs of War.. although this game was so nice I'm gonna keep playing it for fun ^_^

EDIT: Dogs of War is full of errors and crashes, I can hardly play two or three missions through before it crashes. I guess I'm gonna pass on that one.

After several tries to beat that nasty level 1 end boss, and switching from my Quickshot 2 to the Competition Pro joystick, this game seems to be quite entertaining for a while.

Can you tell me whether all upgrades can be available by the end? Everytime I make it to the end there are 2 upgrades still not unlocked

iirc all of the upgrades are ready for the last factories. Maybe you just didn't collect all the upgrades?

EDIT: I might be wrong, since the last time I ever upgrade my ship is in the aquatic level, early stages.

You are automatically forced into the upgrade shop every time you start level 6. I collected everything I saw.


I finally beat the penultimate boss only to get killed by the end of game boss because I wasn't in the safe spot

The screenshot is from just after killing the penultimate boss. I couldn't use the one from the hi-score table, as you restart level 6 each time you die and I would have had an extra 200K from the first time (on that playthrough) that I beat the penultimate boss.

Oh yeah you are. I didn't change anything, I just have the ship 2 with 3 orbitting laser pods, sonic wave, best engine and accelerator and default laser.

IMO the two end bosses are some of the easiest in the game.. what's killing you?
