The correct title is:

Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny

This is the first game in a trilogy played in Arkania or whatever and not the other way around

Afaik later parts are not on the miggy.

Also the game seems to be the English version of Das Schwarze Auge, but I don't see them linked.
I don't speak any German but the graphics and the game seems to me the exact same thing in different languages.

I'm fairly sure that it is indeed the first game in der Schwarze Auge trilogy.

Reason it was renamed was because it was based on a german RPG system I think which wasn't known outside germany.

Attic Softworks, the company which made Blade of Destiny, was german.

Blade of Destiny is the first episode of the trilogy "Realms of Arkania", which is the adaptation of the RPG "The Dark Eye" ("Das Schwarze Auge" in german

).

The Dark Eye (the real RPG, I mean) was also sold in France ("L'Oeil Noir"). I never played it myself but I think it was a fairly easy to play RPG, with simple rules, designed for beginners. So it had a rather great success in my country.

Blade of Destiny is a great game, in my humble opinion.

I played it on my Amiga for hundreds of hours!

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I've stumbled over the Blade/Schwarze thing before, put it on TODO list and never got around to it, so thanks for finding that one

As for the title, I changed it and then changed it back again, as it looks as though technically that is the correct name, it was still published for the English market under the title Blade Of Destiny. Does this sound right? Kind of a judgement call, really.

If you do a search on google like I did to find out the correct order, you'll see it is not correct...

Just enter realms of arkania:

Realms of Arkania II: Star Trail
Realms of Arkania III: Shadows over Riva

I understand that, but you are referring to the series, which doesn't even exist on the Amiga, only that one game. I realize Realms Of Arkania is the mother series, but regardless of that, the single game from that series that was released to the Amiga was done so under the name Blade Of Destiny. Perhaps because they had no intention of releasing the (then) future entires, but the publisher saw to it that the title for that release was BoD on all of the materials, so it only makes sense to have it listed that way, even if technically that is not compliant with the rest of the games in that trilogy. My 2k, anyhow.

Well, I did buy the game on Amiga when it was released, and I remember it was clearly written "Realms of Arkania" just on top of the title!

It must be different than the one in HOL, then.

In any case, I am stepping away from this one. Clearly gamenames are not my forte...
