Dopus Magellan problem

After updating Dopus Magellan v. 5.62 to v. 5.8 ;
I'm having some serious problem with it.
My OS3.9 system boots directly to Dopus ;
and I can' t change it; the Dopus configuration program with the update doesnt help.
If I try disabling some Dopus assigns from startup-sequence; my system no longer boots to OS3.9 desktop..
Wheres the critical Dopus config file(-s) that I think I must delete or
modify; located ?!

Please help

Magellan is normally started in startup-sequence. You must comment it out and activate LoadWB I assume. I myself use Aros+Magellan

Its already commented out on the user startup; but that didnt do it.. ?! It still launches Dopus at startup (and partially fails; theres no Wb backdrop or wallpaper picture anymore. Additionally; Dopus seems to mess up the workbench menu selector bar.

Would the OS3.5 patch for Dopus ( 5.82) help...?!
( assuming the problem may partly be icon.library related?)

It sounds that DOpus 5.80 installer might have some bug and it updates itself as WB replacement... or even updates it by mistakenly replacing c:loadwb without making the backup of the original as it would be supposed to do (and how it does it when making a new installation instead of updating)...

Here's a similar case and instructions how to temporarily boot into old WB instead of DOpus or completely revert it to boot into WB instead of DOpus:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...37#post1363237

Leave the assigns active in case you still want to use DOpus (as replacement or separately).

Didn't dopus have it's own loadwb command? replace loadwb in C: with one from OS3.9 CD and it should boot to WB again.

Great! Thanks, jPV !
I think it works now.
I replaced the LoadDB (?!) command on Dopus/ C folder with older one,
and same with Sys:C / loadwb.
So now, my loadwb command/ file is 640 kb;
and version is 44.2 .
All ok ?

I think that DOpus5:C/LoadDB is just for storage purposes, it won't get executed in normal use. So doing anything for that was useless.

What DOpus 5.x should do when it's used to replace Workbench (installer should do this automatically):
1) It copies the original SYS:C/LoadWB as SYS:C/LoadWB_old
2) It copies DOpus5:C/LoadDB as SYS:C/LoadWB

And then it would boot into DOpus environment instead of WB. And if you would press the Shift key during the boot process, it would load LoadWB_old and boot into the original WB instead of DOpus. This is how it should work when installed properly (and not using newer broken open source versions).

So, in normal situation removing DOpus WB replacement mode completely would be done by copying SYS:C/LoadWB_old back to SYS:C/LoadWB. But if there's some bug with the installer in some situations and you woudn't have the LoadWB_old file, then you will need to find the original LoadWB command from backups or AmigaOS installation media.

LoadWB 44.2 (640 bytes) sounds about right for the original command, I guess it might be the version included in OS3.9/BB2.
