GFA compile

Hi!

Are there any instructions how to compile a GFA Basic program?
I have the 3.52 compiler from the Zone, but I have no idea how to use the compiler (parameters etc).

Regards

Chris

i only found a tool called DCM on a public domain disk:
ftp://www.back2roots.org/pub/back2ro...x/pdk-0027.txt
ftp://www.back2roots.org/pub/back2ro...x/pdk-0027.lha
Sort of frontend, didnt tested it, but worth a look.

Edit: seems to be in geman only, but i guess google language tools, might help to understand "DCM_V1.5.dok"

Edit2: it needs c:run to start, i just renamed c:wbrun to c:run , so at least it starts - maybe a run command from earlier WB will do better. running it using WB3.9 - the graphic / layout of the program is a bit weird :/

Edit3: here is a Command Reference for the atari version: http://www.atari-forum.com/wiki/index.php/OFFICIAL_DOC
compiler is mentioned, but not discussed.

Thank you!!

It needs some 'investigation' ;-)
Very weird look, it looks like is designed to use narrow fonts.

thanx again!

np, found info only of another (and again german it seems) compiler frontend: http://amiga.resource.cx/1000er/1000...nhalt-BerndsPD
BerndsPD Diskette Nr. 41:
Code:
Menu-Y Benutzeroberfläche für GFA-Basic Compiler.
                        Version 1.35
                        Autor: Thomas Hartmann
does anyone got this tool?

Hi Chris,

I've got the GFA Basic 3.5 manual. I'll dig it out and see if it can help.

If so, I'll get my scanner busy.

I wasn't offering to scan the whole manual, but I'll certainly scan the relevant pages for you.

Hi Chris,

Bad news, I'm afraid. The manual I have is for the GFA Basic 3.5 Interpreter only. The compiler is not even mentioned. I'm sorry.

I have found a review of GFA Basic 3.5 here:
http://www.cucug.org/amiga/amiinfo/reviews/GFABasic.txt
It includes a brief section about the compiler and the manual for it.

it looks right and is useable, using workbench 2.1 here. cant find "Menu-Y". seems to got released only at BerndsPD; and there seems to be no archive, so at least google says :/

@prowler, a manual, of course, would be nice

Edit: http://aminet.net/package/dev/basic/GFABasicFIX
the fix seems to be a GUI for the interpreter and compiler. have a look at it. this time in english
Edit2: the "Fix" looks like the original "MenuX" - didnt knew that, until i tested a min ago :/

Hi Cosmic,

Rest easy. There'll be no need to drink your pond.

As I said before, I'm not offering to scan the whole manual. It's a 'perfect bound' A5 softback with a stiff spine, so it won't be easy to scan any of it.

But I'll have a go at a 'teaser' just for you.

PS. If you're down in London at the weekend, just keep going until you get to Sidcup, and then you can borrow it.

Hi Cosmic,

Check the Zone for the extract you requested from the GFA Basic 3.5 interpreter manual.

The features you are interested in (IDCMP and opening windows and screens) are covered in Chapter 9 - Event-, menu-, screen- and window handling.

The GFA Basic 3.5 Interpreter manual was originally printed to accompany version 3.0 of the software. Chapter 13 is an addendum describing the extra features provided in version 3.5. This is why the legend 'GFA-BASIC 3.0 Amiga' appears at the bottom right-hand corner of even-numbered pages, except in Chapter 13.

I have reproduced pages 9-15 to 9-39, 13-33 and 13-34. The images are 300dpi raw bitmaps. Curvature of the pages is evident, but unavoidable, near the spine. However, all text is legible.
