A few more information won't hurt WHDLoad or its own installer? What Amiga model do you have?

Just installed it here using the '+11 MST' version and it works fine (using WinUAE that is). Not sure what causes the error on your side

I think probably bad floppy or corrupted file.

Maybe you should try to get this version from TOSEC:
Hired Guns v1.08 rev39.25 (1993)(Psygnosis)(M5)[t +11 MST](Disk 1 of 5)[f Bowen].zip (100% crack) |

The TOSEC sets are really confusing and a nightmate too.
It seems some cracked sets dont like the original HD install, because a fix by "ATX" has been released in those days. If you use this fixed disks, the install should work with cracked disks. Tell me, if you still need a solution, then i could upload the fixed sets, you need fixed disk 1 and 3(install script). If i have investigated right, there are two different cracks available, first one by the "Loons" and one by "Saito" The 6 disk set by "Loons" is not really needed, because there exists 5 disk sets(cr Loons) too. I have downloaded the Bowen-fixed version of this and installed it to hard drive on a PAL A500 with 0.5MB chip/8.5MB Fast and also on an NTSC A3000D with 2MB chip/16MB fast.
In both cases, when I try to run the game, I get a requester that says: C/SystemTakeover Program failed (error #80000004) Wait for disk activity to finish Suspend Reboot What is causing this and how do I fix it? |

OK, found my own answer...but now need help from the coding wizards out there:
According to this thread: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ighlight=hired The program is crashing because the Menu.exe program (the trainer) ran before the main program when booting from disk is apparently patching something in memory and if it's not run first, the game crashes. This is especially problematic when trying to run the game from hard disk. The HD installer does not copy this (obviously). Could this game be updated by someone to: 1. Include the Menu.exe program when installing to HD 2. Either re-link the game icon to a script that runs Menu.exe and then the main game executable or somehow integrate the menu.exe program and main game executable somehow. I don't know if the second of these is possible, but it seems like it should be since I've seen so many full-disk games turned into single files, plus it would address item 1. But I'm not a programmer so maybe it isn't so easy. Even so, the game won't run on my A500 since it only has 0.5MB chip, and it won't run on my 3000 because I've got a Cybervision 64 card in there, so the screen that Menu.exe opens is not visible and also seems to freeze the machine because my mouse stops working. I've tried using ModePro to see if I can mode-promote the screen Menu.exe opens, but that fails miserably. However, if I manually set the system to a PAL screenmode and run the program, it works. Obviously another downside to an RTG graphics card. Summary.....I'm screwed. :P Last edited by brett71; 22 August 2012 at 05:31. |
