Recovering deleted files

As you can see here i have been able to make an image of a broken hd.

It is almost empty, and i would like, if it is possible and without spending a single €, to dig into deleted files and similar.

I have tried with photorec and foremost on the hd image, but they recover really few things, and not interesting ( some bbs images, some buttons, some amigaguide and txt files ).

Suggestions?

Tya.

first backup the image and put it in a save place
i suggest using the copy of the image inside (win)uae and use some tools like this:
http://aminet.net/package/disk/salv/DiskSalv11_32
its been a while, since i had to recover things on my hdd, but this came to my mind, reading your problem.

Disk Salv is for FFS only, make sure that is the filesystem you are using.

Try and get hold of the latest version (Disk Salv 4?) the link here is for Disk Salv 2

So far i have obtained many screens (attached), but if i am right all files with the key ! than something are lost.

Is it true? If yes there is only a list of interesting things that cannot be recovered .

Btw, if someone has disksalv 4 maybe the situation could improve...

You can use Quarterback Tools, if you are using an OCS/FFS HD. It recover thee files to the same partition. It even fix the RDB so you have a working partition again.

Seems like those files belong to another partition than that you are salvaging now. Did you somehow change or recreate the partition table ?

The key in a FFS block is the logical block number relative to the start of the partition. If the stored key does not match the real key, then the partition borders have changed. DiskSalv might be able to recreate the files but IMHO it would be a better idea to correct the partition borders first and to salvage files later. It might even be that you don't need DiskSalv at all once the partitions are ok.

I have changed nothing on the partitions.

Btw the compressed hd image is about 160mb.

If someone enjoys recovering files and suggests me some place to upload it i can do so.

is it a special version of quarterback which has the rescue feature? i thought it was only meant to do backups on floppies and tapes(!?) and so on.
