Which Would You Pick: Stunt Car Racer or Lotus 2?
Hi everyone and welcome to the September 2018 edition of the "Which Is Best?" series.
Last month I placed 3 joystick killer "Track and Field" style games on the ZX Spectrum against each other (Hyper Sports, Daley Thompson's Decathlon & Supertest 128) asking you which in your minds was the better game and after counting all the votes I can now reveal that Hyper Sports is the winner gaining 35 votes with Decathlon receiving just 12 votes and Supertest coming in last with 7 votes. Thank you to all who took part in the voting. This month I'm going to place what many of us Amiga owners consider the 2 greatest driving/racing games ever developed on that glorious machine,...Stunt Car Racer & Lotus 2, two brilliant games but very different at the same time, so the question is if you had to choose which game to play for the rest of your life between these two, which one would you pick?! ooh I'm cruel SCR vs LOTUS 2 video: [ Show youtube player ] VOTING CLOSES 15th OCTOBER Last edited by ZEUSDAZ; 02 July 2022 at 00:54. |

I like both, but Lotus 2 wins it for me even though its too easy for me now. The graphics, variation in tracks and the extacy you feel as you creep over the line to win a stage. I find Stunt Car gets too difficult for me after division 3 so always left me with a frustrated feeling.

Stunt Car Racer definitely. You just can improve your laptimes and get better and better in the game forever, it gives replayability value much more. Physics are cool and nobody can make perfect results in this game, and it keeps up the interest.
Lotus2 might look prettier at first sight, but its gameplay is just too simple to be played forever, and you'd destroy your fingers/hands if you'd play this for the rest of your life |

Both AAA games. I'll pick Lotus 2 though. Quick & Easy to get into and it's fun.

Never played either of them much, but I would pick Lotus because it's actually playable.

Lotus 2: I like SCR, but I prefer arcade-y style racers and Lotus 2 scratches that itch quite nicely for me.

Stunt Car Racer. NO CONTEST.
Why? SCR has real 3D, for one thing: the Amiga has got tons of games like Lotus 2, they're ten-a-penny, and they are extremely lacking in the realism stakes, for example being able to crash head-on into the wall of a tunnel at its entrance and yet only bounce off it? It should be game over because you should be DEAD. If I can make an highly-honourable mention: Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix - even better racing in a real sport, AND even truer 3D. |

I've played both a lot, and in my opinion it's opposite. Lotus can be very frustrating at later levels and it's just memorizing the tracks and obstacles, not much to do with driving. SCR is very playable when you get hang of it, and it's real driving and improving your performance and how you take corners, lines, and jumps.

Lotus 2 for me. I really like SCR but found it pretty difficult and frustrating where as Lotus was just pick and play (although prefer Lotus 1 but that wasn't the question).

Lotus II.
I've only played SCR a handful of times but I could never get into it. |

Gameplay sucks on both, but Lotus 2 wins for the intro music. I could listen to that all day!
