Workbench 1.3 System
My first Amiga was a 500 with WB 1.3. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic so I'd like to install a 1.3 system with some of the best software that worked with it. (I know that 2.0+ was a much better system!). I've got WinUAE and Amiga Forever, so I've got all I need to get going.
Any recommendations for some great apps or utilities (commercial or PD) to install to get the most out of it? |

The one I would recommend is DM2 by Greg Cunningham. It's a file manager, makes copying files a lot easier.

I preferred CLI Master back those days
But a file manager is really high priority .... |

4.16 is for higher WB Versions (3.x) ... 4.12 runs fine on WB 1.3

@Superman & SkulleateR
Do you run it from floppy or HD? I tried from HD and it wouldn't work. |

I'm just looking through old editions of Amiga Computing on archive.org for some ideas. It's weird that you can just instantly get any of these apps now and try them.
There are a few things I never tried back then - Devpac, GFA & Hisoft BASIC, Protext. Plus I see on the file server there's the full Fred Fish disk collection in ADF format |

A key feature for the text editor Redit is its OS1.3 compatability: http://www.kaiiv.de/redit/downloads/Redit.lha

Most versions of CEd also run on 1.3 .. why anyone would use another editor is anyone's guess. ;-)

I thought I replied here... but as I was way too busy over weekend (ERP upgrade) I must have not hit post button.
To install basic stuff on HD and make HD work correct way under 1.3, please follow Paul's instructions or use already made setup by Belgerath. http://guide.abime.net/home1.3.htm http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/68k.htm As for DirOpus - you have to setup config file and set it up properly, together with assignments etc. |
