Ripper for classic ST-Modules wanted

Hi,

I'm looking for a ripping tool to get two classic 16-sample modules ripped out, to be able to play them in deliplayer:

http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=19273

and

http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=1702

First is an intro by megaforce, with winuae you can rip a mod but it's not playing the original. The Second is the intro of Cracker Journal 4/1988, music by enno (Depeche Mode's Icemachine on ST-01).

Anyone round, who can get the mods to play in deliplayer?

Hi Venku Skirata,

make a uncompressed savestate with WinUAE. Then use a mapped windows directory as a harddrive, copy the savestate to it and start with a Workbench 3.0+ setup. Install both ExoticRipper and JackTheRipper from this page : http://amigamusic.tripod.com/rippers.html
Load the savestate with the rippers and let them search for the mods. Good luck

Why all the hassle with the savestates? Just load the intro/demo directly into ExoticRipper, it will be decrunched "on the fly". No savestates and no WinUAE either needed. You seem to forget that not everyone uses emulators dear TCD.

ExoticRipper decrunches the files? Didn't know that. Always had problems ripping from the files directly. But maybe I should check if it works with this files

Yep, it does, uses xfdmaster.library for that task. However, in the case of the Manhattan Dealers intro it will fail as that's a custom/modified file so no known decruncher will be recognised. In that case your savestate approach is probably the easiest.

Edit: I quickly ripped the module from the megaforce intro. Can be found here. I didn't check it in any tracker, just ripped it from the decrunched executable so if there should be any problems let me know.

Hi

Hi,

thx for the Help. Didn't work stingray. The module is recognized by milkytracker and deliplayer, but doesn't play the way it does in the intro.

Then either milky or deli funked it up. Or maybe Exotic did. It's straight from the original decrunched intro. I'm gonna rip it manually once I'm back from boozing (read: tomorrow ).

Ah mod was broken when ripped with ExoticRipper (like most Sountracker 15 mods ), but pattern data was correct. So I used the sample ripper of WinUAE and put both together with FT2
Thanks for the info about the automatic decrunching in ExoticRipper StingRay. I will try this first then fromnow on

Btw : 'mod' should become a valid extension for attachments

I'm not sure what is wrong with your archive maybe another file on the disk contains part of the intro data, I'm too lazy to check. I've uploaded a copy of the original disk and included a ripped version of the MOD for you, a ZIP conatining both is in The Zone.

Hi

Hi Oddbod, and thx for joining the thread and your work.

Managed to load the mod. I could open and play it in Milkytracker. My version of deliplayer didn't like the mod-type and refuses to play it, dunno why.

Fantastic

Fantastic thang!

Now there's only one song missing in my classic amiga crack/demo tunes list. It was one of the first intros/demos by Horizon, also a classic 16 sample tune, as far as i remember originally by j.s.bach or beethoven and they used it in a party demo. Never found the demo in a database and lost it, when i gave my old amiga with disks to a friend.

Wish you all a nice sunday!

Both mods play in deliplayer here. Also try xmplay.

They sound...ok, if the loops should click a little. Can someone confirm the modules sound correct? If so I can add them to BitWorld (Kestra)!

They are both corrected to play in Delitracker The second one is 100% correct. I will check the first one again in about half an hour (when I'm home from work ).

Edit : The first one should be correct, but note that it's reconstructed and not ripped. Reconstructed means the samples were ripped seperatly and put into the mod file.
