The first time I saw the game Pirates was a brief clip of the NES version on Gamesmaster. I Thought the Amiga version was great although the C64 game featured in the video looks really classic now.
I thought the Sword fighting in the game was always a bit hit and miss though... |

I like the music in the original version a lot, I think they should have kept it in the remake. Why the hell did they choose to put in there the Spongebob Squarepants song (you can hear it while you sail, albeit briefly)? o_O

one thing that the C64 version had over the amiga version was the auto scrolling of the map. I never really understood why they couldn't do the scrolling map on the Amiga

Aye, Pirates tis a great game. Played it on the C64 first and I was impressed that it was really playable. Still prefer the Miggy version now

I played the hell out of this game, I even scored the rank of kings advisor. 100 points, that took quite a bit of dedication.

Played the Amiga version a LOT and recently tried the XBox version, which actually had the nice Pirates! feeling from the original. Good job!

If you guys like pirate music, I highly recommend Toucan Pirates:
http://www.toucanpirates.com/ I could listen to them all day! I also tried Nox Arcana's Phantoms of the High Seas. A scary take on pirate music: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FE0XKW/?tag=brsite3-20 One of these days I should try to interview Mr. Meier. I wonder how hard he is to contact? |

Played a bit of Pirates! Gold, but was already spoilt by Cap'n Guybrush.
Musicwise check out the Rakish Rogues. |

Really worth your time gimby Maybe you should check the 2004 remake, but at least have a look at the Miggy version.

I prefer the classical music score of the original, it is more fitting to the general theme. That silly music is bullshit!
