I have no firm opinion. I do not have the sufficient knowledge to judge even if I share your point of view...

@Crashdisk:
Is it possible to include feature in DMS-Workshop to extract single or whole files out of an image with Amiga DOS structure? |

Sorry for overrunning you, i have another thought: Currently you have this "Track identification" feature included. Could it be possible to include a comparing feature, as in ADFCompare, where you can compare 2 or more images directly? |

Currently, I plan to completely rewrite the bootblock identification method. I know that already works pretty well, but it does not suit me at all. |

Well, whether you include hacks/conversions in Games [ADF] or as a separate DAT (or potentially not at all, though that would be worst outcome IMO) I'll leave up to you guys. Use your best judgement.
We do have this exact same situation in other DATs however. They have been included, and this is how I have dealt with them (naming wise): Sega SuperSystem (Games DAT): "Kick-Ass Game (1989)(Sega)" -> this is the original game, on its original platform/system. Nintendo KoolSystem (Games DAT): "Kick-Ass Game (2012)(KoolHackers)[p]" -> this is the converted Sega -> Nintendo game. Since its 'cross platform/DAT', [ h ] flag doesn't really make sense. The year is the updated year the conversion was made, the publisher was "who" (individual/crack group/commercial publisher(or commercial pirater)) that 'made' it. And [ p ] to indicate its unlicensed conversion/hack. You could also add a [more info] such as [Atari ST Conversion] if you wanted also. That's how I would deal with naming them anyway. Quote:

I may be able to offer an explanation for this: I am fairly sure that one of the disk images I had a hand in fixing (I can't remember which of them it was, unfortunately) had a file header data block sequence which was not in agreement with the data block sequence suggested by the next data block pointer entries. I discovered that, for AmigaDOS file operations, the next data block pointer entries have precedence, but for disk recovery utilities (e.g. DiskSalv), the file header data block sequence has precedence. (Note that this may actually be the other way around. I don't remember this clearly any more and I neglected to make any note about it at the time, unfortunately.) |

I think at the moment we have never used the tag [p] Thank you for sharing your POV @mai / prowler The problem on LEV3 file is real but not for AmigaFileSystem (duplicate sectors, see below) Code:

I have just renamed some of my scene demos etc correctly using the latest Tosec Data sets, when I discovered this:-
Stencil Vectors (1975)(Bennyboys).zip Either these guys went into the future, then took back an Amiga, or someone has just miss keyed the year in. |

Why, can you explain please!
It seems AmigaDOS can handle this, i can copy file to another destination and get same crc32 as in the other images. nice, thanks! Last edited by mai; 02 October 2013 at 20:36. |

The 1975 is part of this lousy and lame fake demo. "A Benny Boy production in 1975" can be seen in the demo. Bennyboys should btw also be corrected!

@Mai or Crashdisk : You can flag Alien Breed 2 AGA fairlight crack as [BAD].
It's impossible to correct the outro corruption, because it would go beyond the 901120 bytes of a standard ADF. The last file on disk 1 is cutted from the start for this very reason. (file size is $5800 in length instead of being $9E60 like the original). ...fixed, mai Last edited by mai; 03 October 2013 at 20:48. |

Back again, i have checked this time The Paradox crack of Alien Breed Tower assault.
Either the ECS or AGA release have the very latest file truncated on disk 2 and 3 (exactly the same problem as AB2 AGA), if you picked the original file, and you try to correct the error, the ADF is now 881kb, meaning it break the ADF in itself. Please, flag it as bad. PS : interestingly enough, i have found Stefan Boberg =SB= Packer called LHACONV from AB3D2 KG source code It encrypts and packs previously made LHA archive. I can zone it if anyone is interested. |

You can see the error when playing the game. But in order to make you not loose your your time, i have actually fully extracted all the files from the original and the disk images.
and there, i have compared all the files sizes, and the CRCs. Just to find that the disk 4 is used to store the outros for ECS and AGA versions. (3 Files for each versions). On disk 2 (file 079) and 3 (file 081), the very last file is truncated (size is 168kb uncrunched, and 25kb crunched). On disk 2 you see clearly that if you try to decrunch the file, you only get a 374 bytes file, when the original disk 2 is also 168kb uncrunched, but 26kb. There is 1kb of data missing, explaining why it crash during the game. And you have the same on disk 3 with the very last file too. If i remember clearly from memory (i had the paradox crack in 1994), the game fucks on the science zone 2 (GFX corruption). And there is from the info file of the delight release a note saying that the game will also crash on the main tower higher levels. maybe the big archives of each tower assault disks can work patched, but only when installed from hard drive. But anyway, the game must be flagged as [b] ...fixed, mai Last edited by mai; 04 October 2013 at 23:49. |
