TV-out related issues
Hi all, a quick question if I may.
I've got a GeForce 7800 something-or-other and am using the multi-function connector thingy on it to connect composite out to a TV. For some reason the largest resolution I can use with the TV is 640 x 480. If I go any larger it becomes like a 640 x 480 viewport so I have to scroll around the screen with the mouse. It's a normal PAL TV so surely it should be capable of 576 lines or something similar (?) Any ideas on how to get a better resolution? PAL gaming in WinUAE is a bit sucky in this res (I'm using the latest nVidia Detonator drivers and I had the same issue with my old 6800, with older drivers) Last edited by P-J; 11 September 2007 at 16:46. |

There is an option in Twinview to scale rather than scroll.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/feature_twinview.html Are you using Application zone mode or Virtual desktop rather than Clone mode or Application Exclusive? I've used a 720x576 WinUAE screen with my Twinview and a TV several times. Last edited by alexh; 11 September 2007 at 17:02. |

Clone should be fine.... perhaps there is now an advanced option for clone... I dont have Nvidia at work so I cannot test.
I think you can use application exclusive too. |

Twinview will only work upto 1024x768 without panning and scanning. You sure that your resolution is correct?

I've tried all manner of resolutions for the TV.
640 x 512, 720 x 480, 720 x 512, 720 x 576 and so on. Just comes up with a 640 x 480 screen which I can scroll around :/ I'm at work also right now so I can't fiddle with the settings :/ |

You can definitely do higher resolutions than 640x480
May be that you should try TVTool, it WAS a superior implementation of TwinView? http://tvtool.info/index_e.htm It might not work with a new card, development stopped as Nvidia significantly improved their Twinview support to the same level as TVTool. |
