Anyone do A1200 repairs in the north east of England?

Or anywhere in the UK for that matter?

I did something stupid, I decided to re-cap my A1200 with an Amigakit cap set, only the thing is I think I was too brave (stupid) in doing it myself with my amateur soldering skills and now all I get is a white screen via scart and did at one point give out some distorted sound, also tried vga and composite but they gave nothing at all

Is it worth being repaired or would I be better off just getting another working A1200 motherboard?

Did you manage to remove the old caps without destroying any pads or traces?

I reckon I did, although my soldering was rather naff and think I overheated one cap near the audio outputs as the black paint on it turned to liquid and it was a really tight spot to get at with the iron and also think one of the solder pads may be in contact with the outer shell of the cap due to me using too much solder.

Best of luck, I'm sure it can be repaired.

If you get stuck, try mjnurney on amibay, not exactly north east as he's in barnsley. But not far from the A1.

By far the best one is hikey on amibay.

Have sent him in the past two 4000D motherboards (one completely dead) and made a complete restoration and recap.
High quality services and a really nice lad.
