Here's a sneak preview:

For sure, I'll have to open up a thread once I get my head round it.

For now I have Mame and Neo Geo Emulation at full speed, E-UAE + Classic Workbench & WHDLoad working, basicly can run anything designed for OS4.x

Check out:

http://os4depot.net/

Of course its running the likes of GLQuake, Doom, etc. I'm yet to take it online but that should be easy enough as the Mini ITX board has everything built in.

Steve.

Steve, I would be REALLY interested in seeing you run glUAE and RuninUAE
They both seem like great solutions to getting classic games running on os4.x

Hey Allan,

For sure I'm going to try these out, RunInUAE sounds awesome for running just about any 68k app from its own Icon, looking forward to messing around with that

Of course once I get to grips with the OS and get a tidy installation I'll make a Video for my YouTube

With the 800mhz PPC its a very nice OS to use, I was left a bit disappointed with OS4.1 Classic even on my 330mhz PPC.

Also, unrelated something interesting that arrived this morning:

Its a CDRW with built in Card Reader.

Will plug right into one of the headers on the Subway or Debeb as it has the 5pin connector

Will be great in my A4000D

Sweet what make and model is that?

When I saw OS4.1 Classic launch, I did think that I should have held off on selling my BPPC tower. But having read the reviews I think I can hold on until I get the readies for faster hardware....
Shame that os4.1 Classic left you a little underwhelmed. How does the MicroA1 compare to it?
Video ideas: It would be good to see a side by side of them running the same tasks / apps / GAMES!

Here's the one I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Its marked up as a BTC BCE 5232IA (BTC is the manufacturer)

OS4.1 on the MicroA1 vs OS4.1 Classic is like Usain Bolt vs Borris Johnson in a race

Ok, I'm being a little unfair to OS4.1 Classic there, its a great acheivement to see it on Classic Hardware and the OS its self runs nice and quick (although much faster on the MicroA1) its still very useable.

Its just when it comes to the apps/games coded for it run too slow, for sure a side by side Video would be great.

Its a real shame there isn't more cost effective PPC hardware for us to run OS4.1 on as I'm really enjoying it on the MicroA1

Got a new Nook !

It's smaller than I expected, very cute and lithe, screen is fantastic ! Touchscreen is good enough for occasional input, can't really say much about the battery as I just got it today, but should be ok.

Yes, replying to myself from a bit ago...

I recently picked up a bunch of Amiga things (I'll take pix and list out in a bit).
One of the things was a Golden Image external floppy that was "bad."
Well, I tested it, and he was true to his word.. ;-) It was bad..
But then I remembered this old drive I had that I never finished working on.
So, I got it out and swapped drives...
The new drive did just what it used to. Kindof worked, but no diskchange..
So, I looked up this thread here:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ighlight=fz357
.. and started to work...
I carefully took the drive apart. Carefully laid it on the desk.
Carefully picked up my soldering iron to plug in, the cord caught the drive which flipped over, and I pinned it with my leg against the desk. :-(
So, I "carefully" put it back on the desk (it was looking a bit flatter than I remembered..)..
I looked for and found the piece of plastic that went flying (I didn't step on it or run over it with the chair!!) and put it back together as much as I could, using a floppy as a guide as I went.. It wasn't ejecting right, but it wasn't totally back together.. Oh well, I think I'm OK to move on..
So, I get the soldering iron ready and proceed to "blop" (you have to read the thread to appreciate that), and it's not pretty, but I'm not good, so I was OK there..

I put the case and metal spring back on and go to hook it up..
Floppy is ejecting, but

Sony (original mech in G.I case) and Chinon (my thrift store find) have the cable and power on different sides..

So, the floppy cable I have "just" reaches, but the power cable doesn't, so I'm testing with the drive sideways...

Power on the Amiga with a floppy in the drive, and it sees it...
So far..
Eject, and ... the icon goes away!!!

And, when I put the faceplate back on the drive, it fits nicely in the case!!

So, when I get around to "extending" the power cable, I should have another working external floppy!!!

Thanx mate. Hopefully the A500 won't look like it's been sitting in the smokers lounge since 1987.

He refunded you without asking back the A600?
Strange... he has been very correct then.
