CD32 Audio question
Hi Guys,
I have a few (real) CD32 games which I think have audio sound track(s), namely Chaos Engine and Speedball 2. Anyway as far as I can tell the sound tracks are not played, yet if I put in an audio CD the CD32 CD Player works perfectly. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong? I thought that if the CD player worked then the game audio tracks would use the same functionality! |

Most cd32 games have separate audio tracks and the ones I have tested, like Pirates gold (yes the original, not a lame copy), in winuae have worked fine.
What are your specs and settings in winuae? |

Speedball 2 has audio tracks on the CD, but there's no music during the game... that's not your CD32's fault. Mine behaves the same way. ;-)
The crowd cheers, the "Ice Cream"-sample, the startscreen-music are played from the CD. That's the audio tracks (plus a few more). Dunno about Chaos Engine. If you want to test your CD32's audio-playthrough abilities, I suggest loading Pinball Illusions or the Lotus trilogy (Lotus III), since they use a lot of audio track playing during the game. With Pinball Illusions, you can even hear when the miggy switches from the (sampled) loop at the start of each ball to the CD audio track, for the sound quality of the CD audio is much better. |

Thanks for the replies!
I think I confused some people a bit though I am talking about WinUAE, but real CDs (i.e. not ISO downloads). Sadly I did not have a real CD32, but I did have a CD-ROM drive for my A1200 which was almost as good! Anyway when I load Chaos Engine, the intro has no sound - yet my disk version that came with my A600 says stuff like "Some time in the last century .........". Various in-game sound effects work fine though. I am using the latest WinUAE and have attached my config file, although I think it is OK. The games I have to test are: Chaos Engine Speedball 2 Rise of the Robots Oscar / Diggers |
