Man. I don't know how DD did it, I get absolutely mauled by this game. The default controller setup is really strange, but luckily you can change that. But... there is no making a mistake in this game even though you graciously get three hits before you're dead. It doesn't help much, I don't know how many times I got shot and killed by the same damned enemy on level 1 before I had to call it quits. I got bum-rushed and cornered by enemies with no way to get myself out of a sequence of hits, the slightest timing mistake means taking a hit, I even got sword slashed by enemies through boxes I was hiding behind.
What the heck man. Dark Souls is for toddlers compared to this. |

Are you playing with the latest version 2.11? it has 5 credits (4 continues).
I think I know which guy you die with, the crouching gunman at the end of level 1? I would say, throw bullets first then walk, try to have bullets clearing your path even if the screen is empty, then walk forward. This way, the gunman will die before he can shoot. Watch also some videos, here is a good one on twitch. Especially important as I think when you get to the first boss, you will think the sky fell over the earth https://www.twitch.tv/jiggeh/video/667957109 (I fixed issues I saw in this video in the 2.11 version). Try to use the Kanji and mines. Mines very effective against bosses. |

If you have to watch a video to be able to get through a game... that's game over for me. I will keep trying since this is classic Amiga/Arcade-difficulty that deserves to be respected, I ain't quitting until I've beat at least two levels. but I fear that it is not in the stars for me personally to really ever fully like this game, the combination of it being extremely fast paced and relying a lot on muscle memory just doesn't do it for me. That's not a failure of the game, I didn't like games such as Shadow Dancer much either.
For now as a completely new player who 100% sucks at the game, I have three observations to share which impacted my first reaction to the game. Besides it looking very pretty and the music being awesome. One: the rapidly respawning enemies... ouch. In my opinion in a game that throws waves of enemies at you, there should be a little safety in areas you have already cleared to let you breathe. Maybe less so in the above ground sections, but definitely in the underground tunnels. Two: what added a little aggravation for me was the fact that the pain state seems to last too long. If that time could be cut in half somehow that would make practice runs a little smoother. Three: powerup pickups are iffy, you have to wait for them to stop bouncing before they are picked up. Just let me pick them up even in their bouncy state, the enemies are too fast and frantic for me to be waiting around for stuff! |

Enemies don't respawn instantly, they do after some time of being idle in the same place.
I think I know what it is needed, I will a new difficulty level (or rather put it back as i removed it when I added the 5 credits and continues.) I will call it "Baby Ninja", as the next one is "Rising Ninja" It will be in this weekend. I want you to enjoy the game, hopefully this will do. |

I may have talked too soon...
There is some complications coming with adding a new difficulty mode... (As a lot of places rely on being only 3 diff modes) Let me know first how things go, with the practice runs... The more you play, the easier it will be the next time. |

I came to realise that it's really a very good thing to cater to nearly all skill sets.
The important thing is that people enjoy the game, and have a good time with it. One of the very first Shadow Gangs supporters found it hard and I made the 3 hits addition because he convinced me, as I was closed to the outside world in anything related to difficulty or changing the one hit/death. Myself I am not really a great action game player, for example, I never finished Shinobi in the arcades with 1cc...back in the days in late 80's. But i remember for example one guy finishing Shinobi in front me back in 1988 with one coin, and a cigarette on one hand, smoking a bit between levels and even inside levels... The same for Operation Wolf, I never finished the second level... Little by little, the realisation that what's important is that people enjoy the game, and not get blocked in the first mission became clearer and clearer. Because, whatever their skillset, they are happy and in turn it makes me happy |

Thanks guys!
Let's See, hopefully someone will beat Damien score, it will be a miracle if it happens given Damien score is in hard difficulty, and ALL people play easy or normal... |

Yes, it was released in Europe on the 7th of January.
Graphically, there is no differences, if you have an Xbox One X and the series ones it will do 4K. (And you can have HDR on them, I got report that on the series xboxes, the HDR activation looks great on Shadow Gangs). The Switch does 720p when handheld, and 1080p when docked.
