Atapi/Ide Slim Dvd not recognized

Hi:
I've got this dvd drive HL Data GDR-R10N http://www.ebay.es/itm/350271407347?...84.m1439.l2649 and another Panasonic UJ-842 http://www.ebay.es/itm/320828343180?...84.m1439.l2649

and Idefix doesn't find them. It only shows me the Cf, tandemcd_pcmcia.device, telmexatapi.device and tandenmat_pcmcia.device. I've tried with them but nothing.

I've heard that some slim Dvd's are set as slave, and that it has to be as master http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29499.
Is there a way to change it in the cables? Perhaps a jae adaptor with jumpers? Or another way to make it run?
Thanks.

Edit: Or do I need to search another cable to have CS (or modify it)?? http://www.unixwiz.net/techtips/ide-cable-select.html Edit: No, it's for 40 pin ide, not 50 pins drives.

Shall I modify the cable to set it as master?

Tried it on the second channel of the idefix board?
Mine would only work from the second channel, but then you need idefix / atapi.device to activate the second channel of idefix board.

I currently have a Panasonic slim drive in mine.
I believe its correct about Master and Slave, as my drive has no jumper, its set to master all the time.
This conflicts with my HDD.

I've just tried and wasn't booting. Will try again now.

EDIT: No, yes I tried and was booting. I've tried both Dvd's and they aren't recognized. Just booting I've got "Can't find Atapi device" because of a working one I had running and that I want to change for any of this that are slimmer.

I had installed a working Dvd drive. When booting with any of this others Dvd's the Amiga says that. Using find device I've only got what I said in first post. No Atapi device showed.

I've tried two cables. One new, and the older was working with the other Dvd. I can't change the dvd to slave as it has no jumpers or I don't have an idea.

Thats the same as mine, no jumper on it.

As I said it works fine from second channel of idefix board.
Mine is found as unit 2 (secondary port / master).

Ok I'll try that in the front part of the jae.

Edit:
Later I'll try this if it's ok:

I have units 2 (well, 0,1,2,3) in Telmexatapi.device and tandemmat_pcmcia.device. I will try anyway with the soldering.

Have you tried atapi.device that comes with idefix.
You would need to alter your CD0 though in dosdrivers to point to it.

I'm only trying with Idefix, and as I said just booting it says it can't find Atapi.device (well, it's cache cdfs who says that). If I run finddevice it doesn't find any atapi.

I've just tried with the soldered jae and it wasn't booting in none of the ports.

It's a pity if there isn't a way to make this drives work, as they are 9.5mm height, not 12.7 as the usual slim ones (the other I've got working and I've installed again). To properly use this I will have to desolder the cables of Idefix like Mfilos did. With the others I shoudn't.

The small one to the rear of the dvd? Ok I'll try with it then. Lucky I haven't fried anything. I will post a photo before connecting it.

Edit: Is this ok? (the other is desoldered now).

You have to install idefix full package to get the atapi.device.
Easiest way is to have a test partition, install it to that it will install and get to find device, it will then give you atapi.device as an option in find device.
It will also setup your cd0 file for you too.

I just took atapi.device and cd0 files and put them in my proper setup.
You dont need idefix then, as atapi.device will activate the second channel for you.

I did do a post along time ago explaining how to do it. However I cant find it.
If shorting the contacts dont work, you could always try it the way I did.

I'm repeating it (ok, my english isn't the best). I've got atapi.device already installed; even more running if I connect my thicker dvd drive. If I install any of this slimmer dvd's, just booting I've got the message about "can't find Atapi.device" (the one that was running), and finddevice won't find any atapi. Do you say to install again Idefix? I don't think this will find what doesn't find already installed with finddevice (yes, I've got atapi.device as an option there).
