Just for you haps; here's a few photos of my Jack Russell "Shorty" that I grew up with... unfortunately he's long gone now

Cute little guy DD, I've always had a soft spot for Jack Russells. My ex-wifes family had 6 of the little buggers when we first started dating, we used to throw them all into my ute and take them down the river. When we started living together I started taking her bitch out with me when I wen't ferreting and she was bloody good at spotting and catching runners when we missed netting any holes.

That 2nd ones a beaut, looks like he didn't want to be left out of a trip. xD

Just a couple of snaps from our new warrior princess... Xena!

It was only a matter of time before the house would just feel way too empty She's the nicest cat on earth, always greeting you with a new story whether you've been gone the entire day or only left the room for 30 seconds. Can also do anything with her, she'll allow everything. Heck, she didn't even complain getting into a carrier when taking her from the animal shelter.

Don't let those pictures fool you: she's also a really effective and dedicated hunter and a fierce challenger of other cats, if we'd let her walk loose outside that would mean a lot of dead birds in the local area and we'd probably not see her for ages... so we take her out for walks on the leash. That's not yet really a commonly accepted thing in the Netherlands so we get a lot of surprised responses and the fair bit of "look, there are those people who walk the cat" finger pointing behind our backs, but we've already met a couple of other crazies that do it. Most can walk the cat without it being on a leash, that would be the dream.

She knows how to get what she wants though... I frequently get woken up at 6AM in the morning because a cat is licking my hands or feet... And if that fails the little evil creature turns her affection to my face... those whiskers are darned ticklish.

Was your sweet girl a stray and you opened your arms to her?

Beautiful gal.

My family here:

My dog Fisher in his house in my bedroom. He just turned 14:

Our crazy house cat Bobby. No idea how old he is:

My fav outdoor cat Tigger who climbed Mt Ladder:

Tigger's sister Tigress with her babies, Pooky, Bonnie, Clyde and Joy:

And finally Ma Barker. She was kitten hiding in our tree. We named her Barker because she was a tree cat. It took a while for her to warm up to us and joined the family. When she had kittens we named her Ma Barker.

I told my sis that we are going to have problems if we don't take the kittens to the shelter.

I forgot to mention my gray tom GrayZ who likes to live in the field. He can be gone for days and he'll come in to be fed. I guess that's when he didn't have any luck hunting.

He's one of the six lucky kittens I rescued from inside our walls. How the heck do they get inside walls?

We took her from an animal shelter / pound, one of the best in the Netherlands where cats tend to only be on the website for a few days before they're re-homed. Seriously: there was a white cat who had lost its ears due to cancer and had a heart condition that basically meant it could drop dead in an instant; was on the site for maybe 5 days and had a home.

So basically what we did was catify the house (put all the kitty stuff, buy the food, buy the toys) and then it was a question of eyeing the site until a kitty with the perfect matching description would pop out (not too young, not too old, really social yet not too dependent). It didn't take long. We went running, it was love at first sight for both humans and cat and the rest is history.

As much as I loved Kitty and her wild ways, it was a sigh of relief when my parents came to meet her and she was on their lap before they could properly sit down. I don't need to worry at all about taking a trip, she can be in safe hands no problem. Unless there is another cat around the house, then it's war.

Xena with her bag of catweed...

Cardboard boxes, catnip and toys on a string. The three absolute favourites. We just have cardboard boxes lying around everywhere now, baskets and such are completely unused.

PS: for people with a cat, recently we gave the cat litter from Almo a chance. I don't like the food that they produce as it has grains in it but...

https://www.almonature.com/en_CA/cat-litter/

This stuff is friggin' amazing. Minimal loss when cleaning the lumps out of the litter, doesn't stick to the paws. Whatever is dropped in the box you can cleanup in mere seconds. I just have a layer of 2cm in there and only have to top it up maybe once a week. No need for a bag either.
