How to make your onboard battery removable 56k no no!
as suggested by Zetr0 in my problem thread it was suggested that i make the onboard battery in my A500+ removable.
Parts Used:
first of all i had to remove the old battery and clean up the area as it had started to leak but hadn't damaged any tracks on the pcb. My preffered method was to cut as close to the pcb as possible where the pins are at there thinnest. i then used a solder sucker to remove the excess solder and left over pins then using the cambion sockets i fitted them in the three positions which will be taken up by the battery, the reason they protrude from the board is that they are slightly deeper than the through hole legs of the other components and i didn't want them to scrape through the protective plastic cover and possibly short out (phew breathe) this is the kapton tape which we use quite a lot in the industry for protection of tracks or transformer windings etc, its very effective but also very expensive then with the new varta battery i cut of the through hole pins and fitted the cambion pins as these will then interface with the sockets thus making it removable neat eh now i must say you do need a steady hand and your soldering skills need to be top notch suffice to say i do this for a living and even this job can be taxing the finished article in all her glory hope this is of some use to a few of you peeps ps i have 3 spare varta batterys along with as many pins and sockets you'll need (i can fit the pins for you) to the first 3 people who message me |
