MethodGit's cheat questions

Can anyone confirm whether the Invincibility and Infinite Lives codes actually work or not? I'm not able to activate them no matter how often I type them in. And I could do with being able to at least beat the first bleedin' level at some point!

Yes, I can confirm that the invincibility cheat does work.

Edit:
Here are the codes decoded right from the game

TRUE I AM GUILTY OF INTERFERENCE JUST AS YOU ARE GUILTY OF FAILING TO USE YOUR GREAT POWERS

JAMES BOND AND OLIVER REED WERE NEVER GOOD SINGERS

ESCAPE SWITCH

DAY OF RECKONING

THE SLYTHER

TRICOLOUR COFFEE SHOP

D5 GAMMA Z ALPHA

Yeah, those first two codes I was trying to use, but regardless of how carefully I type them and how quickly, the screen never flashes and I can still be harmed and lose lives. Doesn't seem to matter if I pause the game first or not. Is there a specific trick to it?

Sure, mention you know the origin of each and don't supply the info

Said by the 2nd Doctor (Patrick Troughton) in his final story "The War Games" where he was on trial by his own people (the Time Lords) for interferring with the course of history.

JAMES BOND AND OLIVER REED WERE NEVER GOOD SINGERS
a lyric from a song by Leatherface, called "in the real world" .... i only know this one because I researched it to see it was Dr Who related

Quote:
ESCAPE SWITCH
One of only 3 surviving episodes of the William Hartnell (1st Doctor) story "The Dalek's Masterplan" ... an epic 12 part adventure. When 'Dalek Attack' was made, there were only 2 recovered episodes, of which this was one

DAY OF RECKONING
Part 3 (of 6) of the 1st Doctor story "The Dalek Invasion of Earth"

THE SLYTHER
A "pet" owned by the Daleks in the story "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" ... used to keep their slave workforce in check! a rather comical looking creature. (i.e. it looked like a guy covered in tarpaulin!)

this one seems to be a random mixture of French clichés

The "name" (coordinates?) used for the Dalek homeworld Skaro in the Tom Baker (4th Doctor) adventure "The Destiny of the Daleks"

When you say it rocks....are you talking about the original Dr. Who or the 2005 onward schlock. I tried to watch a few episodes from 2005 onwards, but I just couldn't get into it.

all 1963-2010

I admit, there were some dodgy moments in 2006-2009, but otherwise, its the massive variation in it that i love. I guess it's because the "format" is so open to interpretation that makes it so flexible.

Perhaps I am missing something (almost never seen a Dr. Who episode), but I'd rather think it refers to something Dutch (coffee shop obviously and the Netherlands also have a tricolour flag).

hmm. never thought about that.... i just assumed French because of Tricolour and the fact the cheat takes you to Paris!

ahh... it *could* be reference to the episode "City of Death" with Tom Baker.... they definitely sit in a Parisian coffee shop in that!

Thanks for the knowledge feed, Horace.

As it turns out, the cheats do require a bit of persistence as it's relatively easy to make a single mistake when typing them all out. As far as I can tell, the cheats will not activate during the Sewer level at least.

Does anyone know what "ESCAPE SWITCH" is supposed to do btw? HOL just has "???" listed alongside it.

I was able to get the invincibility cheat to work during the sewer level.

I'll take a look and see if I can find out what the escape switch cheat does.

I'd *love* to know exactly how you did it then. Just tried typing the cheats on the Sewer level - over and over and over again - and I'm still rewarded with zilch! Whether I'm typing quickly or slowly, nothing seems to work in that specific area of the game.

Looking forward to seeing a little mystery solved, I must say.

I only realised this because I was listening to the audio to it. 1 episode of the 7 still exists completely, whilst the other 6 only exist as audio and screenshots, like above.

Do any cheats for First Samurai exist?

I'm pretty sure the information on HOL - not to mention every other site on the net - is wholly inaccurate. I mean, why a reference to a word that's only in a fracking trained crack?

The "DIPUTS" code doesn't appear to work either - the game unpauses again upon pressing any key, and attempting to type it out anyway doesn't make the number keys do anything magical in regards to teleportation.

Maybe the developers just never put any in to begin with? =[
