Dune

Appeal for help here... I'd like to download Dune in English but I can only find French and German versions from the usual sources. Anyone be kind enough to zone the ADF's? Many thanks in advance!

Strongly recommend you play the PC version. 256 colours, better animations, better sound.

Disk 1
Disk 2
Disk 3

Télecharger means Download.

I can't argue with that as I've not played the pc version, but the music is some of my favourite on the Amiga and the visuals are very nice too. In all its a jolly nice Amiga game.

This is one game where the PC version is spot on. The visuals are slicker than the Amiga, in fact you can see the Amiga versions are colour quantised versions of the PC gfx.

The sound/music was (AFAIR) crap on most midi sound cards of the time but if you had a GUS or a SB32 you got digital music, plus the game is a "talkie" on the PC-CDROM too with fairly reasonable voice acting.

Yes, because it is THE AMIGA! The only better thing there is also the talking CD version for MSDOS.

On the other hand, if he wants ADFs, he will probably play it in emulator

Sod that masochistic crap. Gamer first; Amiga user second.

The gaming experience is what counts.

Well, you're right, but I do put the emulator in full screen mode

Original hardware is the best, but you can't beat an emulator when it comes to cost and convenience. I would love to own an A500 again and kit it out when space and finances allow

Maybe you should go for a A1200 then I got my A500 and yeah it's cool to have it again, but since you don't swap 50 disks the week at school anymore, it lost much of it's fascination

The music in the Amiga version is ALOT better than in the PC version, and that is reason enough to play the Amiga version.

As this game is one of my favs, I kept the PC CDROM version (talkie).... but still play the Amiga only.... if a super nice game has crap music, I won't play it... music is too imporant to me... so... AMIGA FTW!

There is also a Mega-CD version that is worth a try (and brings no configuration trouble ; if you have already a Megadrive emulator correctly setup that is)

I think the MD version is 32 colours.
You can compare the screenshots at mobygames.

It's all joypad but as far as I remember it works well.

Speaking of the Amiga version of Dune:

Should the Fairlight cracked version work 100 % ..?!

Should it run ok on A500 Ocs 1Mb Ram, with two
floppy drives ..?

When flying with an ornithoper and skipping to destination;
sometimes game crashes with a screen full of flashing garbage ?
