I already dump the memory via WinUAE and then analyze it with ExoticRipper
But from what i know it should be better to do a disk rip

I tested a little all of these tools and, in the end, the better ones seems to be ExoticRipper for Exotic music formats,
ProWizard for the Tracker formats and WRip for taken data straight from NDOS disks

I know, ripping can be done also manually, but i'm not skilled enough for that

Feel free to upload any disks that are interesting for you and I may have a look.

So, here we go

In the zone there's the archive of this game

http://hol.abime.net/1274

So, no disks here, just plan files

But the intro has a tune which i'm not able to rip

Tried both disk and memory rip, no luck

For StingRay

Well, it's not my intention to make this thread a list of games without the music ripped

This because i strongly guess that games which music must be still ripped are sooo many that i surely don't want to ask each time the ripping to someone else

Indeed, my only goal is to understand a little more what it's possible to do to extract a sound module, so that i can do that by myself

So, if you have the will and/or motivation i just spotted this game
http://hol.abime.net/2362
with the same issue

Tried both a disk rip and memory rip, but no kind of modules come out

In the zone the disk image for you to have fun

Sometimes more knowledge or different tools are needed in order to rip what you are looking for. Keep trying with other games and pretty soon you will get some results. After some time you will keep coming back to those title that were unsuccessful for you and you will probably be able to do it or you will figure out how to do it.

The knowledge can be increased by looking at the way other people do the rips

In the beginning i didn't know nothing about ripping and ONLY asking to others i was able to progress

Had a quick look, there's a MED replayer inside the exe, will have more thorough look later.

Game uses a custom replayer, I found the song data and replayer already but can't bothered to create a standalone version of the tune (game is coded in C).

A custom replayer is where the programmer has altered the format of the music file in such a way that the standard routine to play it will no longer do so, so has had to build a custom replayer.

For instance, to save on precious chip memory, programmers sometimes separate the music data from the sample data, and sometimes might even optimise the music data part to make it smaller still, or have it be real time depacked. The music data can now reside in fast/slow memory, and the sample data can sit in chip memory (as it has to be otherwise Paula can't play it).

The programmer therefore has to alter the standard replayer to pick up the data from different areas of memory and process the music data differently.

Custom replayer.

Why a custom replayer tune can't be ripped by a music module ripper ?

Because a module/music ripper is usually only coded to rip the most common formats of the day like Soundtracker, Noisetracker, Protracker, Startrekker, MED, Jam Cracker, Sidmon, Soundmon, David Whittaker, Maniacs of Noise etc, etc.

The chances of a one off custom module being supported are slim to none.

In other words:
a custom tune is NOT a common format and a ripper only rip STANDARD formats

So, in the end, ripping a custom tune need Assembly skill and some works to do

Is this correct ?

Pretty much. The custom tune might have originally started off as a common format, but has been altered so much that it bears little resemblance to the original format.

And yes, assembly skills needed. Do a google search for "Wanted Team", Don Adan specialised in ripping custom music from Amiga productions, you might strike lucky there.
