No, Kick-ASS is a different Assembler from Maxon. I have both.

Oh, I apologize, thought it was the same product.

Possibly the Maxon 1.2 was based on Kick-Ass. Someone else might know this...

I remember that I regret buying Kick-Ass, it had troubles assembling seka-sources and the interface was slow (imho). I don't know, memory fades, but I do remember that I just didn't use it after a few days (and gee, I paid 49 german marks, that as a 16 year old pupil). Funny enough that I always thought on Kick-Ass when people were talking about the assembler from Maxon. You never stop learning.

Anyone knows this? I never tried that.
I cannot find a copy, just listed on an index file of a missing cd-image:
/Collection/BBS/AGA Utilities CD v2.0 (World Off Liberty)(April 1999).rar ( this is cd03 )
CODEX ASSEMBLER V1.10 + DEBUGGER V1.35 ( this one on CD01, missing also CD02 )

can you create an adf of that disk, one of the rare things, it seems

CodeX was utter crap and hardly useful, it saved the source in tokenized form and if memory serves me right it was impossible to save it as normal ASCII text (not 100% sure, it was too long ago). There's a reason this assembler package is hardly known.

The IDE is ASM-One similar but it has the better debugger.
A friend of mine really liked Maxon ASM, he still used it for all of his Amiga projects even in 2001. It even came with a disassembler that wasn't too bad (the coders definitely had a look at Resource as it was quite similar) I never was too fond of it but that's probably because I love the SEKA/ASM-One style. I tried a lot of different assemblers and always got back to ASM-One, the best there is, for me anyway.

Thanks for the Idea, but still crashes with 20k stacksize. Actually it doesn't seem to crash: Everything's frozen after quitting and the CPU seems to be very busy... forever...
That is strange, I do remember that I used v1.7 a lot (I think it was the first version which allowed to search for opcodes) but I'm not sure if that was still on a bog-standard 1.3 A500, I think I already had an A1200 when it came out.

I will try it on a A1200 setup in WinUAE. I thought googling might help but "trash'm freeze quit amiga" gives this thread as first hit

I use Barfly when I get the nostalgic Amiga rush, but I also have Macro68.

Haha, not really. But it's good to have it preserved!

I think it was only released in German language, at least I never saw any English version of it.

Ah, thanks. Had a play with it's reassembler and it seems basically useful. It makes all the difference that Resource is able to redefine keys, make macros and so forth.
