***PROPOSAL*** TOSEC (2016-01-03) - Individual Files

Tonight I'll try to do through all the archives I have after "2012-20-12" and upload somewhere... I definitely don't have everything contained in "2016-01-03" but guess it's a start

EAB FTP holds TOSEC-v2012-12-28 release as base, and we have uploaded each single update pack, so not that hard to update to current release on your local drive.

Indeed, later updates are still in Crashdisk his upload folder!

Someone with the permission should move to TOSEC updates folder!
In general, maintaining of EAB FTP is not that good at the moment!
Following on from these above posts in another thread; I've spent the last week or so updating my "TOSEC (14-03-2007)" collection

Phew; finally all finished... after a lot of scanning via ClrMAMEPro, searching / hunting for missing files, downloading, rescanning etc. I now have the complete "TOSEC (2016-01-03)" sets:

Now onto the proposal

I would really hate for anyone else to have to go through the same process that I just have...

It would be cool for the EAB community to be able to grab the latest TOSEC files individually when needed / required

Now there's no way I'm going to re-upload everything (roughly 34.2GB)...

So, what I propose is to copy all of the above (minus below) to USB sticks and send off to Turran and DannyBoy (PMs sent). Once the USB stick arrives at their addresses they can delete the old stuff and then copy over the new stuff to their FTP servers

... Commodore Amiga - Coverdisks - SPS (TOSEC-v2015-06-27_CM)
... Commodore Amiga - Educational - SPS (TOSEC-v2015-04-23_CM)
... Commodore Amiga - Games - SPS (TOSEC-v2015-06-27_CM)
... Commodore Amiga - Firmware (TOSEC-v2015-10-02_CM)
... Commodore Amiga - Kickstart-Disks (TOSEC-v2013-08-01_CM)
... Commodore Amiga - Operating Systems - AMIX (TOSEC-v2015-05-03_CM)
... Commodore Amiga - Operating Systems - Workbench (TOSEC-v2014-02-03_CM)
... anything owned by "APC & TCP" or still sold by other vendors

Many thanks must go to the TOSEC crew (Crashdisk & mai & others) for all their continued hard work with these files

Special thanks to Crashdisk for helping me with the final 1% of files that I couldn't find anywhere on the world wide web

What does everyone think; is this a good idea and will it help you out?

Guys,

I can upload all 34gb without issue. I don't use PC much and it is never turned off.. I am pretty sure I have everything (my complete tosec collection is 133gb torrentzipped)

Amiga is 39gb compressed.

And I'll happily put it on a 64gb memory stick for anyone.. All you'd have to do is send me the stick with a prepaid returned envelope (make sure it is a signed for package as I wont be held responsible for Royal-Shite Mail)

Sounds about right bipstar

Above when I said roughly 34.2GB that figure is excluding the directories / files that we can't upload...

I've not run it through clrmame as I cant be bothered.. I assume it is complete though, and even if it isn't I doubt there's much missing.

and it is 39gb compressed into a single archive for each set.. It's how I downloaded it

Turran / Magix and huepper, all files have now been copied to USB sticks and I'll post on Saturday

Hopefully they arrive soon and then when you have time the EAB file server can be updated with individual files for the latest "TOSEC 2016-01-03" set for all to access when required

It would be awesome if someone could set up a torrent or something of the sort, with a single file to download.

If using 7z you shave off 5gb. I also went through this a few weeks ago and here aswell everything is about 34gb.
But still have about 70.000 adf''s on my hdd which are unknown vs tosec dats !

I have a whole bunch more I just recently dumped too, I will be uploading them soon. Once I finish renaming them and screening to see if they are different enough to include. Still quite a few of mine around the place that still haven't made there way into TOSEC either.

Still some in here not in TOSEC dats (majority were added to a TOSEC dat by mai in 2012):
/Commodore_Amiga/Game/Disk/NewGames (not in TOSEC)/NioByte/

All stuff I dump that is not in any TOSEC dat will be uploaded here in future:
/~Uploads/niobyte/NON-TOSEC/

Indeed, a lot of images still not in TOSEC for different reasons:
image with insignificant difference (doscopy, bamcopy, bootblock, or any other modification)
corrupt files or sectors.
Anyway, dont stop to contribute, we are grateful!
