A question for our Italian members (or anyone else with the knowledge.
I have recently approved a new Italian member and his IP/DNS pointed to an Italian ISP called Spadhausen: https://www.spadhausen.com/ I found it a bit weird because it is a name I would expecting to be German. Does one of you know why that is? Maybe a Swiss/Austrian/German ISP entered the Italian market at one time? |

In Italy are very common stores and companies with foreign names, English, French in particular, Spanish and German much less, in the name should consist of an abbreviation of the surname "Spad" a German word "hausen".

I've met Northern Italians (3-5) with German heritage. The Northern part near Swiss, I can't name the locations as my geography of Italy is quite poor.

Nah, nothing to do with german people, it's a provider from my region (Romagna) that carry till 1Gbit FTTH fiber.
Should be asked to Spadoni (the founder) why he used that name but in my spoken indigenous language Spadhausen sounds funny ![]() And no, my language is Gallo-Romance (so of celtic heritage), sure more similar to french that any german language. [Spadoni literally mean 'big swords'] |
