ASUS Router + VOIP Phone Advice

So I discovered a little something about my ASUS router today.

I've been having on again off again issues with my Digium VOIP phone.

It's an IP phone supplied by the company I work for that connects up to my LAN and connects to a SIP service.

For some reason, my ASUS Router just plain has issues with this device, it recognizes it just fine and assigns a DHCP to the device but would not connect through to the SIP server properly.

Even with their tech support on the line to have me try different things.

My solution was this, I connected it to one of the LAN ports on my Comcast modem, it is an ARRIS device that has 4 active LAN ports.

This will *only* work if you have the device in default router mode and not bridged mode as this only allows a single LAN port to be active.

Now the VOIP phone has no issues connecting what so ever.

Apparently there seems to be quite a wide range of consumer routers with compatibility issues like this.

One thing that was noted to me is there is probably a WRT build for my ASUS router that may resolve this over using the default ASUS firmware and OS build.
