PCMCIA ethernet card won't start until re-inserted

I use a Netgear FA411 PCMCIA ethernet card on my A1200, but one thing that has always bugged me is that it never works when I first turn on my Amiga.
I have to remove and re-insert it at least once before the lights come on, and then soft reboot.

Previously I had far more problems (I'd have to reboot a dozen times or more and pull it in/out several times), but a recent recap and a hardware PCMCIA reboot fix device seems to have improved reliability. However, it still does not work on first boot. Soft reboots do nothing - the ethernet lights on the card do not come on until I've physically pulled the card out and put it back in.

Is there anything I can do?

Have you tried Cardreset and CardPatch? They can be found on Aminet.

What OS? 3.1, 3.1.4, 3.2, 3.9???

As I have simular issues with PCMCIA transfer cards. Worked fine before 3.2, now I have to mess around to get it to mount cards.
i.e. put adapter in first, wait a few seconds, then insert card into adapter and it mounts it. If I push both adapter and card in together, it never mounts.

I'm not having any issues with my EtherLink III card on 3.2 and I didn't have any issues on 3.1 before that. I am pretty sure I used cardpatch/cardreset on 3.1.
I don't think I've done that on 3.2, but will have to check.

I virtually never take the card out. It hasn't been removed for months (possibly over a year...).
And I use the Ethernet all the time. MiamiDX starts when I boot...

I have same issue with my Shinenet PCMCIA Ethernet card but I have had some success changing the timing of the reset pulse in Cardreset parameters. It’s not perfect now but a lot better. I have no such problems with my Greycell NIC so I think it depends on the manufacturer and individual A1200s seem to behave differently too for me.

CardReset/CardPatch seem to have fixed it, thanks.

A more neater solution is to actually fix the problem at hardware level using this...

I have one installed (mentioned in the first post), but it didn't fix the cold boot issue.
