Blizzard 1230 IV @ 50Mhz, FPU & 128MB Ram

Hi all

I have just got one of these cards and wondered how the jumpers work. As far as I can see I have 4 pins on the underneath of the board but no jumpers attached. I think one set is for 60/70 Ram chips and the other for map rom. Is this the case?

Is there any software that does any of the same things as I had only the card, none of the manuals or box?

I also seem to have very low chip memory, if I can move the rom onto fast memory that might help?

Thanks in advance peeps!

Hi, great card. Still my favourite all rounder for the Amiga 1200.

The software you need is Blizkick, all info you need is in the documentation included.

Yes, one of the jumpers if for mapping the rom to fast memory, the other is to set the speed of the ram simm to 60ns
You can get all the details from the manual, here: http://phase5.a1k.org/manuals.html

Neither of these jumper settings will get you any more chip memory though.

Blizkick is the software you want, get the package from aminet and have a good read of the manual, it is very good software and there's lots it can do!

Looking at the manual if there are no jumpers on at all then it automatically maps the rom to fast memory?

Gratz!! I have the same card. I'm very happy with it. You got good explanation already. I had a ram chip that made the card very unstable in 60ns mode. I had to use 70ns and that made the card around 10% slower. I'm not using that ram chip anymore. Just be sure you are using the 60ns mode with good ram. The card is rock stable and solid. Very compatible with everything. I'm not looking for upgrade from this. I had 060 once and it is very little that make use of it and it is not anyway near as compatible as this one.

I have the same card with 64MB ram and it's been solid since 1995.
I never used the map rom feature on this card, I'm not sure how much speed you can gain from using it, or even if you can "feel" it during normal use.

What version of Amiga OS are you using?

OS3.9 definitely has an option to put Graphics into other RAM (Fast Ram)

Also see PM fella.
