Programming language maybe (C vs assembler)?
The ST version benefits from the the ST's unique bitplane organization. C2P on the Amiga is much slower from what I understand.

There's a chance, though, that the blitter can be setup to draw vertical strips for the walls without using C2P at all.

For long vertical strips of wall, the idea would be to load BLTADAT with 16 pixels of texture and BLTAFWM and BLTALWM with values that reveal only one pixel strip of data. Then a nearly vertical line would be drawn so that as A is slowly shifted, one of the texture pixels moves though the gap created by the masks. The greater the slope of the line, the longer the strip.

For very short strips the slope would become more horizontal and BLTCMOD and BLTDMOD would have to be one less than normal so that writes would be to the pixels immediately below the first pixel. One dot per line mode might speed things up for short vertical wall segments.

DoomAttack actually offers blitter-optimized C2P library that you can choose among others. It's the one which gives me the best performance on 030@50 MHz.

If you want the DoomAttack source code for the Amiga, you will find it on Aminet.

I'm trying to run version 1.14 ECS on A600 with 020@28, Classic WB, WB 2.05. Got all the files in place. I'm trying to use both ntsc and pal modes, and all I get is the screenmode error in error.txt Help !

I think the last AmiNet release must have had a bug introduced, I just get a black screen myself in WinUAE.

Someone must have a working version though

Oh no, NovaCoder, I want to play Wolf3D!

Will you continue to work on it?

Hmmm. For some reason, it works only the first time its run, and stops to work on the "Get Psyched" screen...

Same thing happens for me, very strange?

The latest Aminet release used to work fine on my A1200 then just stopped working one day......WTF?

My ports don't normally have an expiry date but I guess there's a first time for everything....

I fixed mine by copying the files from the archive off Aminet back over my game files, the game works now but no music. However very slow on my 060, same issue as Amidoom. Both ports still work smooth on my A4000 /040

Ive just bought an ACA 1230/56 for my A500+ /ACA500 combo so I'll try the ECS version again when I have that next week :-D

I get the same black screen using the version from Aminet, even if I extract the archive over the game files again as suggested by fitzsteve. I don't know where to find older versions to try
