AmiTCP - login problem

Hi everyone
I'm only 16 and I want to connect my Amiga to the internet. I've made two nullmodem cables (PC-Serial--->Ami-Parallel & Ami-Parallel--->PC-Parallel), and have installed Linux Ubuntu on my second computer (PC). I have configured AmiTCP like here http://wnd.katei.fi/amiga/network.html When I want to launch AmiTCP with command "startnet" my Amiga 4000/040 shows this statement to me:

Have you ever seen that kind of problem? I can do it different way, but that way looks easier than other I'm sorry for my bad English. I'm from Poland

Yeah thank you, I did it to many files. It probably works, but there is any problem:

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Hi! I highly recommend the following tutorial with screenshots:

http://megaburken.net/~patrik/AmiTCP_Install/

The error you are getting is an indication that your network interface has not been defined (or set-up). You can find that file at:

Code:
AmiTCP:db/interfaces
the relevant part for my ethernet adapter reads:

Code:
eth dev=devs:networks/3c509.device
and 3c509.device is the driver and "eth" is the interface prefix.

In your case this will be different, but for the most part, if you follow that tutorial you will get it set-up properly.

Then you must edit
  • AmiTCP:bin/startnet to add your device driver (mine is 3c509.device)
  • AmiTCP:db/interfaces to define an interface and a device driver (I think plip in your case, but I don't know what .device you are using).
