Yes you can, but for some reason the downloads page appears to be taking forever to load up, and it takes an age for a search to complete and so far it's returned nothing

EDIT: Of course it could just be me, but I doubt it as everything else works fine

I have the very latest version of XMP (4.0.0) compiled from source, it's not even available for download yet, the author sent it to me personally. :/

XMPlay is a different software.

Sorry about the confusion. I thought it was XMPlay. I guess you'll have to use UADE.

I´m sorry, but this article is pretty uninformative....so your answers are, Torben.

I love Retro Gamer, but this isn´t a "Making of"...more a well layoutet advert.

Modified Sega pads should allow the use of all eight buttons if the game supports it though.
I've ordered an amiga to MD adapter from Amibay, specifically for battle squadron. It's pretty unplayable using the Joystick swirl technique.

It depends on your skills and age I suppose, as I finished the game back then with the swirl technique.
When you get old, it's more difficult at least for me.

Played the game the other day on my Amiga 500 and wanted to re-try activating the Nova-bomb in reference to this thread. Used a classic kempston competition pro joystick and pressing the firebutton while swirling the joystick worked very well

Send a message via ICQ to Predseda
You have no chance with a joypad

In Amiga I always played with my fabulous Telemach

With that joystick I played Battle Squadron and I was able to release the nova-bomb fastly and efficiently.. and with the needed rudeness without worry of break the joystick =)

I have to use that joystick to play BattleSquadron, KickOff, KickOff2, PlayerManager and Goal!.. With Sensible Soccer didnt care what joystick use, the game was so poor that it doesnt matter

Now that Torben has uploaded a photo, I'll reattach the PDF version as it's a lot easier to read.

I still don't think this should have been classed as a "making of" feature!

The swirl technic is perfect with a competition pro joystick. I finished it plenty of times in several levels of difficulty. Those who can't play it correctly with a stick like the competition pro should stop playing shoot'em ups !!! More over i would add that the swirl technic is giving a feeling of perfect brutality, really in the state of mind of this wonderfull shooter. When all seems lost, surrounded of bullets or if you are in a middle of a zone with tons of destructible stuffs, WHAT A PLEASURE to launch a bomb in a brutal circle . Of course with a joypad it is really difficult, that's why a joystick is highly advised !

And remember to press and hold the fire button and then swirl the joystick in a circle

just noticed the thread title...

"The best Amiga shooter appears again after 20 years, in a real computer mag!"

Was the Amiga not a real computer?
