Super stuff! Combined with Alkis's very kind help and the super efforts of the folks here it's now working!
So I have a 8MB Card but it only has 4MB of actual memory? How do you guys know this? |

Do a search for Texas Instruments tms418169dz, this shows that each chip on the simm module is 2meg each

Very rare you find 8mb simm with just 4 chips on...knew it was 4mb straight away.

Hi Sober1977,
If you get your self an 8mb 72 pin Simm you should be able to run the card with the 8mb settings but if you do this you will not be able to use the PCMCIA port as the memory (over 4mb) address' in the same space. This is why many people run an 8mb card with a 4mb Simm (or set it to 4mb) so that they can still use the PCMCIA port to transfer files and such. If you do go for an 8mb Simm this card is known to be a little picky about what Simms it will work with. With all that said 4mb fast + 2mb chip is enough for most WHDLoad games anyway its only your games that had ridiculous amounts of disks or the larger CD32/AGA games that benefit from more Ram. Steve. |
