Yes, I know "it's on the EAB FTP and on the Google Drive mirror".. but every copy I have found (also on archive.org) has the same checksum for the .bin file "FishNMoreVol3.bin", "FishMoreVol3.bin" (I think I have a third source with the same checksum).

It's still not mountable after correcting the .cue file to match the name of the .bin

Burning to a CD makes it unreadable, so I assume it is corrupt. Reading the .bin in a hex editor shows some sign of life...

I have also converted the .bin and .cue to a still corrupt .iso file, which also fails to mount using Linux.

Did you only try mounting it in Linux? Try mounting the CD (image) on Windows or Amiga.

I converted the .bin to .iso with this MD5 hash:

Mounting in Linux reported this:
ISOFS: Logical zone size(512) < hardware blocksize(1024)

It seems like there's some inadequacy/regression in Linux ISO 9660 filesystem support, see here. I'll check the kernel.org bug tracker to see if that issue was already reported. The link above is from February 2001, so it might have been broken for a long time.

An update: Under WinUAE with emulated SCSI CD-ROM drive, I could mount the CD with AmiCDFS. On Windows 10, I tried right-clicking the ISO and choosing Mount but that gave an error. So it seems Windows' own ISO 9660 handling doesn't like that disc either.

Tried mounting .cue & .bin on Windows 10 without any success, therefor converted to .iso and trying in both Linux and Windows.
Got the same md5 as you got when converting to .iso.

As these disks were not bootable, it should be pretty easy to convert Fish'n'More Vol 3 to a valid (mountable) iso file for other OSes (all the other from archive.org and other sources are mountable).

Probably all Amiga CD filesystems work fine with the disc, since they would surely have been tested.

It turns out you can get the ISO to mount on Linux. After reading the mount man page... Just add block=512 to the mount options, i.e.
mount -o ro,loop,block=512 -t iso9660 iso_file_name /mount/point

I'd still recommend mounting within Amiga emulation to preserve file case, dates and comments.

I'd be interested to hear if any other CD images need that trick to be accessible in Linux.

Edit to add: Does block=512 work also if you mount the CD you burned (as opposed to loopback device on ISO image file)?

Worked just fine mounting in Linux with the block parameter set.

This is the first CD I have encountered with this problem, might be solveable using MakeCD on the Amiga (emulated or not) to recreate a any-system-mountable image, just for the case of accessibility.

Or (as I have on my less used physical A4000), just use "tar" from GeekGadgets to create an archive to preserve file name casing.

Does your burned CD mount in Linux with block=512? (I'm thinking it might not because there, the device sector size is 2048 bytes.)

It does not mount on Linux:
# mount -t iso9660 -o ro,block=512 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cd
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.
# dmesg |grep sr0

Can you repeat but do dmesg | tail after instead? I want to see what the filesystem error message is (without having to write a CD myself ).

Thanks. I'm going to try to run some VMs with older Windows and Linux versions and see if any of those can mount the CD correctly.

Googling "Logical zone size(512) < hardware blocksize(2048)" (with the quotes) gave one other result, a scummvm.org IRC log file where someone mentions that issue with some King's Quest CD-ROM.

Also this newsgroup posting where someone mentions some CDs being unreadable on SuSE 9.2 which were readable on SuSE 9.0.

I checked in VirtualBox, and Windows XP can read this CD.
