Using an Amiga 2000 keyboard
Hi i have my A1200 in a tower and it has a PC Key adapter with the DIN socket
I use a DIN to ps2 adapter to use pc keyboards but i have recently bought an Amiga 2000 keyboard and was hoping to use this but to my surprise it does not work? The only thing that does seem to work is the caps lock key when pressing it lights up red and it goes on and off when pressing but after a while that stops too? After a reboot the caps key works again but no letters or numbers typing??? Is this the keyboard at fault or is it the PC Key adapter? Is there any other way to test the keyboard? |

To be honest i'm not 100% sure? I bought the tower from amigakit and it came with the internal PC Key adapter and i have only used pc keyboards up until now wanting to use an a2000 keyboard.
I have read on amigakits site that the PC Key is compatible with a2000 keyboard? The adapter has the big DIN socket so the a2000 keyboard fits straight in. |

If the PC Key adapter is not compatible with the a2000 keyboard then i am thinking of
getting a Lyra2 adapter. This is supposed to be compatible with a2000? of course i'd need to use a ps2 to DIN adapter which i have a couple of them. |

I suggest contacting AmigaKit (or whoever you bought it from), if they advertise it as working with the A2000 keyboard then surely it should.

The lyra2 does not support an Amiga keyboard as far as I know.
Make the adapter yourself, there are plenty of instructions on Aminet how to connect a big box keyboard to an A1200. |

When I towered an A1200 years ago I found the hack on Aminet I think , I used an A500 keyboard gutted from a dead A500 , later got an A1500 keyboard and worked fine .
I think from memory you need power, clock and data lines and solder flying leads to one of the A1200 custom chips. |

Ground also needs to be hooked up.
If you're using an A500 keyboard, the reset line will work directly and should also be connected. If an A2000 keyboard, you'll have to build a separate reset circuit if you want ctrl-amiga-amiga to work. Again Aminet docs/hard has instructions. |
