Amberstar installation
Hello. I have problem to install Amberstar EN to HD under WinUAE.
I got "Not enought room" error message. It only hapend, when i have ~10GB or more free space on HD, so i think it is installer limitation. WHDload version is not a solution, becouse of character generation durning install procedure. I tryed to create & format 10MB HDF for this purpose, but i got Amberstar installer error message read error. This error apear when i write "DH0:" and hit enter - it looks like there are some harddisk check routine. And i think this routine dont like HDF... I think it is not configuration problem, becouse install procedure and game is working until you have more than 10GB free disk space (so my install disk images are OK). I have no idea why it doesnt work with HDF, so i created this post. Any ideas? PS: Sorry for my english Last edited by hoborg; 10 October 2008 at 12:27. |

Hi hoborg,
second problem indicate that your disks are faulty. I would suggest you get a new set of disks and try the HDF method. |

You need to format the HDF file before you install. I'm doing it right now and if you want I can upload the HDF file when I'm done

Usual "standard" 32-bit signed overflow when calculating disk size.
It isn't any special 10G limit, you most likely get same error if your disk size (or free space, depending on calculation method) is 2G to 4G or 6G to 8G etc |

I used the A500 most common quickstart config and Workbench 1.3 to format the HDF. I entered 'dh0:as' (without the ' ) when asked for the path. Have you deleted my installation in the HDF before you tried to install it again?

I used this disk : http://www.planetemu.net/?section=ro...wrom&id=324812
Here are disk 2 : http://www.planetemu.net/?section=ro...wrom&id=324814 and disk 3 : http://www.planetemu.net/?section=ro...wrom&id=324815 I will try it again here too. It's strange that I got the same error with the unformatted HDF and it worked after I formatted it. I'll report back when I'm done. Edit : I 'discarded' the old folder with Workbench 1.3 and installed again. No problems here. Last edited by TCD; 10 October 2008 at 14:24. |

That's indeed interesting. Don't know what could cause this. Good to hear that it's now kind of sorted. I hope this way is okay for you

Hello,
I have problem, can somebody help me? I want install and play Amberstar, but as I heard, version for PC has lot of bugs (for example only one ring equiped). So I have download from Thalion pages images of original disks. When I mount these disks in WinUAE a execute the game, this goes like this: my character selection, selection floppy or hardisk installation (I select hardisk), instalation. Than is "ZZZ" displayed and than nothing. When I execute game one more time, new installation is offered. When I unmount floppys and try execute the game from harddisk, nothing happens. What is problem? Can somebody help me with detailed description of installation, please? |

Amberstar is really only for use on A500.
Make sure you have that setting in WinUAE. |
