Sensible World of Soccer - How do you play it?

There are various ways of playing the career version of SWOS, I was wondering what everyone's preferred method is.

Naturally, the first time I played it I chose my favorite team in Greece, AEK. But it soon became pretty boring as the Greek league teams were too easy, and the only matches I'd look forward to were the CL knockouts. As much as I enjoyed scoring 12 goals against Olympiakos, it was not fun.

My favorite thing to do is to pick an English 3rd division team (for some reason, Colchester United) and work my way to the Premier League and Champions League titles. At some point, when the national team of Greece offers me a job, I save the game and take it; then I play two different careers, one with the club and one with Greece.

Next time, I'm thinking of selecting the worst team in Europe (perhaps one of the poorest teams in Malta) and see if I can get them to win the CL.

I play SWOS quit simila to you. First played with the best teams available but that became boing. The i was searching for other leagues with weak teams. Iceland and Slovenia proved to be funny.
Playing an 3rd league english team was also good. Think i played with Barnet.
For the weakest teams look for San Marino.

Anyway, I've always liked doing that too, taking a lower division team through the leagues. On the original SWOS I took Preston (chosen totally at random) all the way from Division 3 to the Premiership in successive seasons (curiously, through the play-offs every time).

I also have a strange habit of playing in the Faroe Islands and Ghana leagues too.

My fave thing is to play as my team (Norwich) and pretend we're actually a good team (I finished 7th in the Prem one year) and not, for example, heading rapidly towards English football's third tier...

I play for Iceland, after four seasons in icelandic league I join national squad. It's great to play at EC or WC against strong teams.

The only thing that annoys me is when the players' values go down even if they're doing well. I once had a guy who scored 60 goals in a season and his value still decreased.

There are people who claim that if you put the players in their preferred position, not just in the starting lineup but in the tactic as well, their price doesn't go down. I believe they are right as I see it now and then, but I prefer to play the tactic I enjoy the most. Besides, their job is to play where the manager wants them to play and shut the hell up. I don't mind it when their prices drop, it makes me want to constantly change the team and it keeps my interest fresh.

I've never played any of these games. I've never even seen any of these Sensible Soccer games being played. All I've seen are screenshots. Sports games were never my thing.

Bad tactics. With good tactics values go up.
