I don't know why but Diamond View CRT Monitors tend to be great with Amiga's but you will of course need a scan doubler to use one. I use one right now and i run Workbench in Hi Res Interlace with no flicker and all my Amiga Games and demos and everything else look beautiful on it.

Thanks for the info Blader002......
I am using a Picasso IV graphics card to output to a SVGA screen at the moment. I am using an old AOC monitor at the moment and it works fine, but i want a newer \ bigger one. If i buy a any new CRT monitor, will this work ok ? Even better,a 17" TFT would be fine..........what am i looking for spec wise on these panels to make sure that they are compatible ? |

Try and get one that does 50Hz vsync (56Hz is too high for PAL)
I would still recommend a second hand 19" Iiama Visionmaster Pro 450 CRT (Diamondtron) over a modern TFT any day of the year! |

I personally recommend using a widescreen monitor. Before I got my widescreen TV I thought the Amiga/C64, etc would look horribly out of proportion on it, but they actually look great!

So,as long as the spec says from 30hz for the Hsync & 50hz for the Vsync I should be ok yes ?

I installed a Commodore A2320 Amber board into my Amiga 2500 computer. I have sitting on top of the old girl a ViewSonic 19 inch flat crt monitor. The picture is awesome!
BTW, did you know that CRT monitors produce a much nicer image then any flat-panel monitor? It's true. In fact, the new 3D video technology does not yet work on flat-panel monitors. They are just not as fast and clear as crt monitors. Flat-panel monitors are only brighter, and to get them to have almost the same quality image of a crt monitor, you have to set the resolution to at least 1280 X 1024. Most professionals still prefer to use crt monitors for doing video production work. |
