I had a Z64 back in the day so I had the opurtunity to try out loads of N64 roms on the real thing.
Anyways, the games that stuck with me where, Snowboard kids, F-zero X, Worms Armageddon (yes the N64 version is excellent and works great with the analog joystick). Finally the best N64 game I played was Yoshis Story, very kiddie game but 2D and fun! |

And you mean F-Zero X? Nice game, too bad they were limited to cartridge. (GC version fixed that ) Did you guys try 1080° Snowboarding and Cruis'n games??. (they had low reviews, but both games impressive and well playable) Disney had some nice 2D games for N64 such as Tarzan. |

Yeah the Cruis'n games were quite nice. I played a lot Ridge Racer 64, even if the PSX version was much more fun the N64 version was the best racing game (besides Mario Kart 64 ) on the N64 IMHO. I never got into 1080° Snowboarding, but I must admit I not so much into sports games in general. Did anyone try Tony Hawk 1 & 2 on the N64? They weren't that bad (yet again the PSX versions were better).

(Having this interesting thread revived, sorry)
It is a pity the additional batch of good games took soooooo long to come to the N64, while Rare pumped up hits the best they could. With both 1964 and Project 64 (Hint : Know what rdbs are, get v1.6 while v1.7 is still in dev.) emulators at hand, plenty of these games can be played on the PC with reasonable tweaking, if you can cope with minor glitches. |

Or if you are PJ supporter, you can play with 1.7 already.

Goldeneye is a really great FPS on the N64, but the controls are making me insane I tried to cope with them, but I think I need an original N64 controller for my PC to play it

Since 1964 development is halted, people have turned to PJ, but I can assure you it's vastly able to run lotsa roms.
Oh, and the only emulator I support is WinUAE ! You should know by now , since it is truly irreplaceable . Last edited by NewDeli; 21 August 2008 at 19:51. |

Don't forget Battlezone - probably better on PC but one of those unique games you should try if you have an N64.It may be US only though
I can't be without an N64 to play Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Wave Race(the one game that forced me to buy an american machine due to it's pal snail pace), Pilotwings, Pod Racer, Fzero, Zelda Ocarina, Zelda Majora's Mask(mostly overlooked this one but it's so refreshingly different) Game systems these days offer proper speeds thank goodness Wii is crying out for a Pilotwings Shame Nintendo games appear to be getting just a little bit too easy these days |

I now really think about getting a N64 again. Playing it on a emu is not bad, but the real thing (especially the controller ) is so much better. Maybe next month my budget lets me have one and Goldeneye will be the first game to get

What N64 is worth in EU??
I got now 15 N64 games. They sell Majorca's Mask for 15 bucks and Ocarina of Time for 20 bucks here. I haven't seen any Golden Eye around here, so I don't know the price. Same goes for C&C. (isn't that same as PC version, but without cut scenes) PSX was better just because of that. |

Goldeneye really shines in multiplayer mode. Getting a new N64 with the 4 controllers & memory paks can be a bit pricey, I think.
Here is a list of games that won't work well (or won't work at all) with emulators (not tested with latest PJ) : Barely emulated :
Barely Playable :
Except if you can't live with any of these games, I suggest to take the best out of current emulators (plus, I found out PJ guys are really committed to their port) before getting the real deal. Plus, as time goes by, the chances that the console being sold today work flawlessly for years to come are thin. |

the price on n64 is going down here in Denmark. GoldenEye is fairly cheap, as it's very common. The Zelda games goes much higher
@TCD You could borrow my N64, dont use it atm |
