Amiga Sound Enhancer

I read about this piece of kit in 1992. It was the coolest shit to have! So 12 years passed and I finaly could test one (nevermind it had been in my closet for 10 months).

I must say I was really impressed by the quality of the sound with the Sound Enhancer. Great thing, and looks badass on your Amiga.

How does it work, actually? What can it do that connecting the miggy to an Amp cannot?

"unlike a normal graphic equalizer or tone control circuit, Sound Enhancer has been designed to compliment the Amiga and help overcome the deficiencies in frequency response. A precise equalizer circuit, with a response which is the inverse of the amiga sound circuits, lifts the performance to new heights, by restoring many of the lost harmonics"

in reality it sounds ok if used with some good speakers especially sampled speech etc....but the bass sounds poo without a sub

The bass dissapears or get very thin if I turn the pot to max. But it sounds nice when adjusted halfway. I ran some Spectrum games in an emulator and Spectrum sound is very raw, it sounded really good through the enhancer. Its almost like a bag was removed from your speakers.

Have you tried SOTB or even the intro to Blood Money thru this device yet ?!?

I also wonder if you could take the output of this device and patch it into a 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 or even an 8.1 amp and play around with the synthisized sorround modes to hear what it's like
