HELP: Picasso96 to WinUAE: ...too slow
I have just installed Picasso 96 to an emulated WinUAE OS 3.1-68040 and it sucks. Slowdowns, crashes etc... It takes 10 seconds to open a window! What is the problem? Do i have to install some patches or drivers, or change some libraries?
Please help! |

have you followed Paul' guide? Do the config of Winuae set some amount of graphic ram? have you downloaded the last rtg.library? are there custom installations of prefs managers on the top of your Wb?

Also check the CPU and priority settings. Set standard priority to "normal" rather than "above normal", set JIT to enabled, choose "fastest possible, but..." and move the "CPU idle" slider to the middle.

On Scalos I don't know.
On Workbench there is Fonts prefs where you can choose "text + background" or "text only" (the latter means transparent). |

Carrying on from what Thomas said - it's the same for Scalos too.
Tolismif - is it me, or are you trying to make workbench look like Windows XP default theme! Nice work anyway, hope you're enjoying yourself. |

IMHO this mountain view looks much better than WinXP's green meadow. Although it still looks like a rendered picture rather than a real photo.

I am trying to make a Workbench that i like it and it is usable, not a clone of WinXP. I 've had enough of WinXP!

Now i have another serious problem. I can't see any ILBM or BMP picture with multiview or another viewer and when i try to load a bitmap to Visual prefs the window buttons are blank! Why is that?

You have a problem with datatypes. Did you install the V43 datatypes that come with Picasso96 ?

I will check this now. You know WB can be really cool and it's surprising how fast it is.
