Free legal emulation
I think some % of people interested in trying a virtual Amiga doesn't try it because they haven't got an Amiga, and so they haven't a Kickstart.
To diffuse more Winuae-uae in the big world of emulation, i suggest to add a list of games ( in the docs, and maybe even in the feature list to spread this ) that are legally downloadable, with the download address, that work even without a kickstart rom so that emu fans can try it before buying the Cloanto package or buying a real Amiga and transferring it, or just to show them how good the Amiga was, not with only with demos, but also with games [ maybe there is already something similar somewhere ]. Also, from the UAE homepage, in the Credits and Thanks section: "Hetz Ben Hamo sent an email to Commodore asking for permission to give at least an older version of the Kickstart away. Unfortunately, the response was negative." Till now i've found that the following games: SUPER CARS 2, avaible from BTTR and so 100 % legal: works fine LOTUS 3, legally downloadable from BTTR ( even if i've tried only my transferred version ), UTOPIA, the same And for now there are 3 good and working games, 100 % legal to try uae-winuae. R-TYPE 2: works, but if you press space... [ bttr even this one ] APIDYA: yes, this one is not freely downloadable, but i mention it cause it works. I have a cracked only version i've transferred from my old disk and it works fine , but i think trainerized version doesn't works. I've tried also, using no more than 5-10 min, that: BC-KID, R-TYPE,FIREBLASTER, SOCCER KID, ARABIAN NIGHTS, NUBULUS, BANSHEE, HERO QUEST, HOI, FIRST SAMURAI, SWITCHBLADE 2, SUPER CARS, EXILE, JAGUAR XJ DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. and: PINBALL FANTASIAS: you can listen to the intro music, FIGHTER BOMBER: the same, KATAKIS: loads slooooooooooooowly AFTERBURNER: loads, but no input. What do you think about adding that list in the uae-winuae docs ( legal downloadable games that works without kickstart )? [ and nothing else, without making a better open source kickstart replacement ] |

One Step Beyond from Ocean works without Kickstart - but not the Action Replay Freeze version (the one in TOSEC Games 0.22). The Anthrox (TOSECized) trained version could possibly work, too, but I haven't tested it. Disk One of the version I know isn't TOSECized.
I don't know about the legal standpoint for the game. Anybody has some info? |

senior member will remember the petition... Amiga Inc... will never release kickstarts, they may however, decide to allow people to buy the right to use them (Amiga Forever).... it probably depends how successfull AmigaOne/OS4 is!!!

This is nice, listing games that do not even need a kickstart to boot, therefore having access to 100% legal, no hassles, Amiga emulation. Good one mtb!

I really didn't know that Amiga games could work without Amiga Kickstart: it sounds as a PeeCee without bios!!! Amiga is great: perhaps it works also without electricity power, I should try

I didn't know this was possible either. I assumed code enabling floppy disks to execute was contained in the kickstart.
What screen, if any, is displayed without a kickstart when no floppy is inserted? WinUAE won't let me run the Amiga without a kickstart... |

UAE has very simple KS boot emulation code.
You get error dialog if you boot without KS and there is no floppy in DF0.. |

I have discovered a thing: both Super Cars 2 and Lotus 3 don't work in uae
for linux ( maybe it's me that i'm not able to set it up, but i think that the linux version has still some adf loading problems, fixed in winuae ). |

Well, i have discovered other games so far:
Carrier Command ( i think from bttr ): not exactly the game for a people that wants to see what is an Amiga, but 100 % legal. Kick Off 2: works ( it's an Oracle crack ), unfortunatly i don't like soccer... and it is not legal. Paradroid 90: works ( cr Classic, no trainer ) Powermonger: works ( cr Skid Row ) R-Type: errata corridge ( see my 1st message ): works fine, 100 % legal. PacLand: works ( transferred ), you can see the perfect scrolling, but it's the only platform ---------------- Something happens: Full Contact: until you insert the 2nd disk, but maybe mine 2nd is buggy. If someone try with another adf please let me know. Creatures: i don't remember Ninja Spirit: i obtain first a red and after a green screen. |

Just i quick note, Pinball Fantasies (AGA version not tested yet) works well under WinUAE and WHDload
I just grabed some shots from it for icon... ...going to test CD32version, stay tuned Well, it looks like it should work, but everytime when it loading the table, crash (Guru) come. I disabled JIT, and the same results... Interesting. This works even on A4k 060+ppc... |
