Hi from Denmark!

Hi Amigans!

My name is Jan and I recently (May 2019) re-purchased an Amiga 500.

Back in the day I started with a Commodore 64, which I bought in 1985, then progressed to an Amiga 500 some time in the late '80s early 90's then moved on to an A2000 and bought a CD32 at some point.

These were unfortunately handed off when Commodore and later Escom went under and I purchased a '486sx PC.

But now I am back!

I have an Amiga 500 with Rev 6a Motherboard, 512KB Chip, 512KB Slow.

I have three original Kickstart ROMs 1.3, 2.04 and 3.1.4. I currently have a legacy KickSwitch with the 2.04 and 3.1.4 ROMs installed, but due to low memory, I haven't really explored 3.1.4 yet.

I have and am actively writing articles on our website about the Amiga on our family website (link in my profile).

I am looking into getting more memory and possibly an accelerator in my A500. Currently I have RAM chips and sockets on order to raise Chip to 1024 KB by populating the empty spaces on the rev 6a Motherboard.

I am also looking into adding real Fast Ram to this Amiga.

Have a great day!

Yours Sincerely,

Jan Rasmussen

Hej! Velkommen til EAB og hilsener til Vejle!

I'm passing over the Vejle Fjord Bridge several times a year on my way to Cold Hawaii!

Hello!
Woo! There's so many great things going on in the Amiga world!

Do you have a Gotek device or similar?
(If not, are you planning on getting one?)

If you're thinking about an accelerator, will it be a standard Motorola based one or something like the Vampire II (or 4)?

Greetings from New Zealand and you must be good at soldering? Good luck with the RAM chips

Thank you for the greeting!

I once went to Herford (in Nordrhein-Westphalen, right?) with my school. This was way back in the early '90s

Happy Surfing!

I do indeed have a Gotek installed in an external drive - You are welcome to check my website for the details about that. I am contemplating whether I should get yet another Gotek for the internal drive as well - I am not quite decided on that yet.

I have thought about both - and if I had the money and the space for multiple Amigas, I would perhaps opt for both + an unaccerelerated Amiga.

But for now I am thinking a Motorola based accelerator. The Vampire is awesome as well, don't get me wrong, but if I were to go down that route, I might just opt for the standalone version in a nice custom casing.

Regarding casings I would love to put an accelerated A500 inside the new Checkmate A1500+ case. But that has to wait until I get more money and space ;-)

Thank you for replying :-)

I guess that will soon be revealed :-)

I recently managed to repair a broken leg on a socket on My KickSwitch - not sure if I broke it in the process because just two of the three sockets work but it might have been broken before I got it, because I have only tried using 2 ROMs in it previously. Also it may be that it does not like the two 512K ROMs on it (2.04 and 3.1.4) - it is a legacy ROM switcher from 1991.

Wow. The world is small.
Yes... Herford has a city-friendship with Fredericia, which is not too far from Vejle. So there were some visits organized in school.

Welcome to EAB, Jan.

Oh, and you should probably get rid of the signature as it is not allowed:

I didn't even know that and I spent the first 20 years of my life growing up in Fredericia. (yeah, the world is small ) But that was a while ago so perhaps it was different back then..
