International Soccer (Commodore)
Currently I am converting an old Zzap! review to HTML. It is called International Soccer and is a conversion of the ancient C64 game with the same name. According to the review the game is programmed by Commodore somewhere in 1988. Browsing on the Internet the only game I’ve found is the budget title International Soccer by Zeppelin Games in 1993.
Has anyone ever seen Commodore’s International Soccer on Amiga? The game scrolls horizontally and the graphics also look as blocky as the C64-original. |

It sounds like Microdeal's International Soccer, released in 1988.
The titlescreen has the 'Amiga' name, so perhaps someone thought it meant that it was a Commodore game. In fact, the game has four names: Game box = International Soccer Floppy disk = Soccer Titlescreen = Amiga Soccer In-game = ASoccer |

Yes, that is the one. I did not notice the billboards in the screenshots which are adverts for other Microdeal games. Anyway, here is the screenshot as seen in the Zzap review:

Well I have that cartridge somewhere for the C64 and it does claim CBM as the publisher, so most anything and everything to do with game is a confused mess!

Isn't the original International Soccer for the C64 nearly 20 years old now?

Microdeal International Soccer
When I bought my C64, it came with 3 games free on rom cartridge. International Soccer was one of them. It also featured an Epyx title with wizards in it. All games were published around 1982 so they are very old indeed.
Anyway, I have 'investigated' the Zzap review of International Soccer and I confirm it is produced by Microdeal. The reviewers only compared the game with the C64-original in their comments. |
