Kickstart 1.2 games

Having found out that one of my A500s I got recently have a kickstart 1.2 I wonder if there are games that run with this version of the rom and nothing else. I'd like to run what majority can not.

It would be nice to know if there are any other kick1.2 owners on eab. RetroMan?

In a 1987 issue of a German computer magazine they tested a game that was only working on the A1000, because it needed the Kickstart 1.1. It did not work with any other Kickstart version. Can't remember the name, though, but it was a game from USA.

At the end of last year, I submitted some system requirements for Qwak , stating that the minimum OS requirement is Kickstart 1.3. It was put in a "work-in-progress" state, which asked me to modify these requirements so it says that the minimum OS requirements is Kickstart 1.2.

So basically, Qwak can run on Kickstart 1.2.

Surely many games can run on ks1.2 but games that run only on ks 1.2 put my miggy to really good use

To complicate it a bit more, I can get Archon to run ONLY on Kick 1.2, version 33.180. 33.166 Gurus

Was this perhaps that title that was co-published by CBM and Broderbund. I think the name was Mindbreaker or something like this. Seems to me this was one of the first games published along with the release of the A1000. I'm sure that Cody knows what title I'm referring to

Correction, just checked the HOL, the title I was thinking of was called Mind Walker and was published by Synapse

I think Wicked and/or Twylyte could only run under 1.2.
Strangely it seems to run OK with 1.3 on UAE now..... but I could only get it to run on the A600 when I softkicked 1.2 and not 1.3.
Maybe they are OK with the real 1.3?

But if you're trying to put your Amiga to good use you should probably avoid them both anyway

Actually, it was published by Commodore and developed by Synapse. I have updated HOL.

Evil grin

Ironically though, Mind BREAKER exists too!

In the zone.
Developed by Digital Artwork, published by Softgang in 1987.
Pretty rare bat 'n' ball game. Not MIA-listed, though.

p.s. does anyone know something about that insane laugh sample played after you lose?
I heard it first in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (at the very end of the 7''/video), but it could be taken from some other film or something before "Thriller".

No, it was for Thriller. Vincent Price did the voice over on it. It's his laugh.

Quote:
Darkness falls across the land
The mid-night hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize your neighbourhood
And who's whoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
You must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpses shell

The demons squeal in sheer delight
Its you they spy so plump so right
For though the groove is hard to beat,
Yet still you stand with frozen feet
You try to run, you try to scream
But no more sun you'll ever see
For evil reaches from the crypt
To crush you with its icy grip

The foul stench is in the air
The funk of forty-thousand years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the Thriller

Can you diggit'
(Laugh)

AFAIK, most the first EA games were kick 1.2.

These ones are likely, but I don't know for sure:

Skyfox
Archon II: Adept
Hacker
One-on-One
Seven Cities of Gold
Arctic Fox

Update:

Archon seems to work, but crashes with 1.3 after a few seconds on the title screen.

Seven Cities of Gold is an a1000 only game, the original only works with 256k of chipram and ks1.1

Actually all of the early (original) EA games only work with ks12 and 512k of chipram only, apart from Seven Cities of Gold.
