A500 keyboard backplate question

Howdy,

Short version for the TLDR ppl ;-) Has the black plastic back-plate on Amiga 500 keyboards ever been reproduced in modern days?

Backstory:
Going through one of my A500s which I've never bothered to open up until recently.
Looked Ok and works, but when I took it apart I noticed the black plastic backplate on the keyboard was smashed.. (its like someone stepped onto it and broke it in 20 places.. some parts were broken off, but mostly there are lots of cracks.) Its glued with glue that melts plastic, sort of hold together but it ain't pretty ;-) Also, the membrane was beyond savior but there are new replacement parts for that so..

I didn't see any attempts at re-creation of Amiga keyboard plates. I could offer to send you an intact unit - if you don't choke on the shipping costs out of Germany.

That being said: I personally got fed up with the Mitsumi rubber contact keyboards and built myself a better one. My prototype uses much better Mitsumi standalone keys (known from A1000 keyboards), can also be equipped with Cherry Switches and comes with some nice bonus features like fully configurable LEDs and additional LED input sources.

Thanx for the offer @buggs, first Ill see if some local auctions on broken A500s go through or a couple of keyboards on ebay currently on sale. (Because I need a new membrane too)

Your project looks really interesting. Seems a lot of stuff is happening regarding keybaords.. Kipper has done some great work, A1200.net have some prototyping done + probably some more.. Yea it would be nice to have a proper cherry switch solution easily available for several models.
