Indiana Jones hates snakes, and I hate Jim Power's last level mini spiders Damn...
I have played without the sound not to be stressed by the timer (sometimes it's short - was for me ).
Hardcore gamers will find it too easy but for others, the game has a good balance.
Except the boss the fist time you have the jet-pack (kind of blue head), the others bosses are too easy as soon as you understood how they move (they have a fixed moving pattern and you have pleeeeeeeeenty of time to kill them). Still have to beat the final boss (only posting a fresh screenshot ).
Also, now, I understand how it is possible to have so much lives on the screenshot. There is a refill just before the end .

Haha.
I definitely need to finish the game. Just to get the sense of completion. Don't care too much about the score.

Well, now you'll have to:

379,400

Once beaten it's impossible to ever fail at this game again. I could beat rexsu's score by farming bees but I'm not going to. Without milking I can't beat his or arcanist's score.

Some of Chris Hülsbeck's best compositions and incredible graphics. Tons of colors, overscan and always perfect 50fps. Technically amazing game.
Gameplay feels low budget though in comparison.

Looking forward to Llamatron and Deluxe Galaga next round.

My standard bee strategy was to hold down autofire + right, letting the game edge forwards up to the nest. I missed two gems (stupid jump early in the game) and a few things in the shoot em up sections but felt this was close to the maximum I could realistically get.

I think I got everything I possibly could in this run which is why I really don't feel like having another go. Will upload a video of this gameplay tomorrow.

Yeh I totally get that. I started doing the comp as an excuse to play more games, hopefully ones I had not played before, I liked the fact often a round would bring up a game you wouldn't pick yourself.

But now I take part partly because I love the discussion about the game scene that goes with it.

It's not as bad as Rick Dangerous on this regard though.
Rick Dangerous is much harder, there are more traps and only 6 lives.
In Jim Power you can get a lot (too many) lives.

No milking for me, the difference is probably in the shoot'em up and I took all diamonds.
By cons I thought that little bees didn't give points?
You can farm zombies but I killed the minimum required; the ideal would be to subtract them from the score... not the best game for a contest

Yes probably the shoot'em up sections. I'm not good at shmups so I missed quite some points there I guess.

Think I got all diamonds.

Here's the video:

[ Show youtube player ]

There's a hickup at 15:12 because WinUAE created two video files (which it sometimes does with the x264vfw-codec).

Out of curiosity I compared your video with mine to see where the scoring difference are:

Yours/mine at end of each section

Level 1 (platform): 70275 / 69925 = -350 (I missed two gems)
Boss 1: 77175 / 77800 = +625 (boss is variable score?)
Level 2 (shooter): 100500 / 97750 = -2750 (I missed more things)
Boss 2: 108975 / 108550 = - 425 (definitely variable)
Level 3 (platform): 180350 / 179625 = -725
Boss 3: 190850 / 192200 / = +1350
Level 4 (shooter); 225500 / 226425 = +925
Boss 4: 241475 / 244400 = +2925
Level 5 (platform): 319400 / 322050 = +2650

It looks like I missed some more things than you but made up most of the difference on the bosses. That's interesting, I figured they all took the same amount of damage. Some autofire difference?

Thank you for the comparison. Really weird, those differences in scores against bosses...
Wonder what I've missed in level 5?
