Could someone please reupload this file to the Zone? I would like to check it out, and investigate the problem zombie_dk reports.

TIA

I've put all the data files through SWOSEd, but I still haven't been able to fix the problem of crashing yet.

Obvious problems that I fixed quickly:

- The cup team files needed updating, as did the POOLPLYR.DAT file: fixed

- Some Team.x files were very much larger than they should have been, so I compressed them

I have yet to investigate in more depth, but I did pick up one visible problem with some of the data during play: in certain national leagues, players' nationalities are incorrect (example: native Faroe Islands players are all Bosnian).

I think the only thing that is going to eliminate problems with the data is a very thorough analysis and correction process.

May I ask what the source for the 02/03 file was? I would be interested in joining an online SWOS updating effort.

I'm sorry to say that I don't remember where I downloaded it from. I just came over it once and downloaded it instantly.

Thanks for the link, Peanut. It highlighted another fundamental reason for crashes: as well as updated player and team information, the 02/03 update contains some leagues with altered numbers of teams in, something SWOS does not like one bit. The SWOS Working Group seem very keen on altering league structure in this way, to reflect the current sizes of real world leagues, and presumably will release a patched SWOS that can actually handle it at some point. Although possibly not for the Amiga, as it seems they concentrate their efforts on PC SWOS.

Anyway, whatever. I'm currently beavering away to get this 02/03 data into a form that will let us play it without crashes.

It seems to pointless ot work on data that causes the program to crash so your efforts are certainly useful.

It is a good site in theory but there doesn't seem to be alot going on there.

would be great with a crashfree 02/03 update,
keep us updated

since it crashes calculating the spanish teams (?), i tried overwriting the TEAM.035 with the file from SWOS 97/98 but no luck.
